variable pitch gas powered quad-copter questions

Hi all, I'm new to DIY Drones but have read some forums and everyone seems very educated and knowledgeable so thank you in advance for any help I may receive. My friends and I are building a quadcopter with lift capability of 50 lbs, run time of 30 minutes minimum, two gas motors, variable pitch with 2 blades rotating clock wise and the other pair rotating counter clock wise.

question is on our blades. We have set up a testing bed to measure thrust and torque with strain gauges but need to figure out which blade design is the best. We tested 16' symmetric blades at 10 degrees of attack (if that term is correct) and only got about 8 lbs of thrust. The problem is that this felt pretty close to stall position. If anyone has some opinion on blade design that would be great.
