  • We have had strange problems, the solution was where the transmitter mixing caused improper ESC signals on power up.

In some cases it sent the ESC into program mode, so by the time we lowered the throttle level we now had a non-functioning ESC. Also the default parameters don't seem to be the same as a virgin ESC.

  • Has anyone tried the new Afro 30A HV ESCs with the PixHawk?

BTW I did try HobbyWing FlyFun 30A ESCs with my PixHawk, flashed with BL-Heli firmware, and I got strange results. Basically I couldn't calibrate them at first. Eventually I got them calibrated by some strange sequence of actions that I can't remember, but they won't spin up when Armed no matter what the setting. They will fly though, without any problems.

  • here is the is some info on the DJI s1000 and s900 arm arrest mechanisms (the second video shows the arm defect- aluminum locking tab is .2mm thinner than on the rest of the arms):

rctimer uses a totally different locking system, haven't seen any negative info on those.

    • try ZTW spiders, for exact the same setup, i get about .3amp per motor less amp draw compared to the same amp rated afros.  (I tried  a LOT of ESCs)

  • Thanks all. You've been most helpful.

What flashing tool is used with the ZTW Spider?

Question: why are there 3 wires if no BEC?

    and these:

the last ones are my favorite, all nfet + external oscillator + removed analog filtering + SimonK = the best ESCs :)

and this is the 40a version of the last one:
