Hi, just been testing my Y6 with it's new 6000mah 4S pack and noticed the motors are getting hot. This is affecting the bottom motors more where if you touch them on the base, non rotating part, they are too hot to touch for more than a few seconds. The rest of the motor is hot but can be held without issue.
To check I did another flight with a 3S 4400mah setup and the motors were again getting hot, not as hot but the flight time was 5 mins vs 13 mins.
It's also worth noting with the 4S setup the ESCs were also getting hot, again after a 13 min test flight.
The flight itself basically consisted of a 13 minute hover in loiter mode, I was testing battery times, and consumed 5000mah. The weather for the UK was hot, 25 deg C. The Y6 is a new 2014 B version weighing 1900 grams or so, std config plus 600 gram pack, with std 10 inch props and 850 blue motors.
And finally to the question, is this normal of does something sound wrong?
The only thing I can think I haven't done is balance the props, guide for this would be handy, but I have no vibration issues looking at the data log.

are yours CF or are they G10? as I think the ones on mine are G10 FG
In a effort to try out some things I have also cut out a new main body plates from CF, have produced a mould for a more organic shape for the center of the Y6 to make it lighter and to provide better Aerodynamics, lower some of the RF problems I have seen first hand.
The arms I have decided to use CF tubing, in a effort to further reduce weight and have chosen to use 2 sets of 3 SunnySky motors, although I have 4 sets now I will test a few combinations before making a determination of which is best.
I really like the Y6 design, and feel it just needs to be improved a bit with some materials updates and other motors. hopefully when we are finished we can get to a sustainable 15+ flight time, although I think depending on payload we can reach 20 mins

I'm interested in some plates as well! I'd prefer the 6-sided Y6B mounting plates to the circular ones, but either one works, I suppose.
Yes, I have 9" Tri blades, running 10" APC on the top, the higher pitch tri prop on the bottom seems to function fine, the motor temp seems to be within norms, no hotter than the top, but not that (10-20%) much hotter than ambient...
Interesting. I assume the 10" APC are 4.7 SFP. What pitch and type are the tri blades? Do you have a link?

each of these motors (850Kv and 88Kv) have a page at 3DR and then a link to a pdf datasheet. It doesn't seem that these specs are specific to a multicopter and top/bottom motors, but to the general use:

I had assumed that the DIY Y6 Kit comes with a 20A ESC because this is the only ESC available at 3DR store and the photo of the Y6 Kit shows a 20A ESC. Maybe it was a wrong assumption. I have sent a note to 3DR asking about it. Waiting for a reply.
I was looking for these two motors in the internet and found different specs from what 3DR provides. Wondering which ones are correct.
