apm 2.5 loiter

So this is the second time i have had my quad drop out of the sky in loiter. first time i caught it before it crashed this time i was not fast enough, i have the log from the last flight and google map file it dropped in from a decent height. do i need to put some cotton wool over the baro, it was pretty windy when flying. it shows a big drop to below ground height at time of crash.I think i have done all checks rights. could someone please shed some light on this. i have all fpv gear on the way and cant seem to trust loiter it as yet. i haven't really test rtl or auto yet. lotiter seems to wonder around heaps. last flight showing 6-10 sats most of the flight

  • Thank you very much randy for taking the time to look and explain what happened. if as it looks like a mechanical problem my guess would be the prop adapter slipping on the shaft, all gear is brand so wouldn't really expect to much of anything else failing. I was missing 1 adaptor from the box so replaced the bolt on ones with ones that just grip on the shaft. with it being windy and me playing up high im sure it could have slipped.

As for the power I haven't looked at that yet but not sure why it would be so low. im running all 4 bec from the esc still and running no servos. I do have the power unit on the way

    Wayne,

Looks like a mechanical failure because the desired roll and pitch from the autopilot suddenly diverge from the actual roll and pitch.  BTW, there's a wiki page here which shows how to diagnose the most common causes of failures.

It's hard to know what the exact cause (i.e. motor, esc, propeller, battery) but I'd guess it's the right front ESC because the copter looks like when it fails it rolls right (roll is positive) and forward (pitch is negative).

Another thing I noticed from the logs is that the board voltage is very low at only 4.4V.  I guess you're not using a power module and I wonder if you're perhaps powering the APM incorrectly.  I don't believe this is related to the crash though
