Pixhawk telemetry settings

Could anybody inform as to whether the stock parameter settings (3.3.1) for telemetry ports Sr0 ans Sr1 will enable telemetry output to the 3Dr radio and OSD? ....or do the same settings apply as for the APM that are described in the APM wiki.

MyOSD is Ok, but the 3DR isn't.

All the best to all for 2016. DP

  • I gather from your descriotion that you have both 3DR radio and OSD connected to Serial 1 port (I.e. in parallel)? If this is the case, then do you have the Tx line from the OSD to the Pixhawk disconnected? If not, this is what yo will have to do, as only one of the two parallel connected devices can be setup to transmit to the pixhawk and with these two devices specifically, the radio must be that device, therefore the OSD Tx must not be connected to the Pixhawk Rx in this configuration. A better option would be to just have the 3DR radio on Serial1 by itself and have the OSD connected to Serial 2 port (and configure SR2_ settings for the OSD).

    • Thanks for that.

Sorry I didn't communicate that very well did I....

I have the 3DR connected to Serial port1 on the Pixhawk, and the OSD to Serial port 2.

I'm getting data to the OSD, having set the params to both ports as described in the minim OSD-extra wiki.

Sounds as though the port settings for Serial 1 should be set at the default?

You've just made me realise that the fault may lie with the 3DR radio itself. Perhaps I should examine that more carefully, and reload the firmware.

They worked perfectly previously (with a bluetooth module connected to the ground station module).

    • The SERIAL1_BAUD should = 57 and SERIAL1_PROTOCOL = 1

Make sure both radio modules are configured the same way. I had an issue where ECC was enabled on one but not the other and it would not connect. Now this is off on all my radios. and they all work with each other. The SR1_ parameters should not need to be set manually - the radio should set these itself, as it talks to the pixhawk to set these. SR0_ is for the USB port and shares some functionality with Serial 1, so you will find that when your radio configures SR1_ it will also configure SR0_ values.

    • I wouldn't be surprised if the BAUD rate needs to be adjusted.  3DR radios and Bluetooth modules run at 57600 BPS.  Typically "generic" Bluetooth modules run at 9600 BPS.

  • How do you have the radio and OSD connected to the Pixhawk?
