    ??? I thought thrust was thrust.

  • Gjango, I don't know if you're familiar with this site : http://www.ecalc.ch/ 

    The thrust depends on several factors : motor power, motor kv, propeller used. A 100w motor with 800kv and a 13" propeller will give you less thrust than a 300w motor with 800kv and a 13" prop, since the last one will be able to maitain higher rpms with such a "eavy" prop, but the motor will also be heavier.   • Well, 850kv @ 20amp would probably generate over 1kg thrust per motor.  So your flying weight with the gopro is over 4 kg?  That does seem like a heavy drone.  If you're really over 4kg, you should probably be looking at a hexa or octo.  Since if you try to find motors for a quad that can lift greater than 4kg, you're talking about expensive motors and escs.

  • Elison, 850kv with 20amp ESC. I just transferred from the normal jdrones ardu frame to the X1 frame. Should I change the motors and the ESC?

  • Adli, what kv motors come with that frame?  12x45 sounds like they're big for a 20amp rated motor..  Adding another battery in parallel will likely make the lifting ability worse, since there will be the extra weight of the battery added to what you say is an already heavy drone.

    Can I add an extra battery to the arducopter?What do I need to do in order to do that? Help please. Right now, I am using the JDrones X1 frame with 20amp of motor and 12 x 45 props. It seems  a little bit heavy to lift with gopro attached to it. Thanks.

  • I have the official 900Mhz telemetry kit soldered it myself I've tried using x-ctu and unbricking and reloading the firmware 

    i called diydrones store and the lady didn't know what to do

    Gage: You'll have to post info on your whole setup. If you're not using the official 900Mhz telemetry kit, I won't be able to help you. (I've never used anything else)

Drone flying to non visible point

Hi there,I encountered a problem, while flying in auto mode, with approching to point that was not set by trajectory and is not visible after downloading mission from flight controller by Mission Planner. Does anybody encountered similar problem. The situation is that in the middle flight I stopped the UAV and uploaded new mission and after changing to auto mode it starts to fly in some direction. TAKEOFF WITHOUT USING GPS

HELP quadcopter: one motor twitching and stuttering

Will AHRS_ORIENTATION=8 for Arducopter 3.2.1 on APM 2.5 using a traditional Heli

I have been Reading Chris Olsen posts and watching his videos on Arducopter with traditional Helis using a Pixhawk.I have inherited an older Trex 450 heli with the old Align 3G FBL hardware.  The FBL controller appears to be bad.  So I have an old APM 2.5 without a compass or GPS on board.  I just want to replace the failed Align 3G FBL system with the APM.Now I have to mount the APM under the skids on the heli so the APM will be upside down.I have Two questions.1)  Is the AHRS_ORIENTATION=8…
