GoPRO 4 control with UgCS

Hello,

First of all, thank you for this software, and its free version! it's really a good alternative to dji Ground Station. I even find it more ergonomic.

I tested it with a F450 based drone, with naza-m v2 with datalink 2.4G + iOSD mini from dji. The drone is equiped with a zenmuse H3-3D and a goPro 4 black.

I managed to plan and upload a route, although i have sometimes to change the port number of the datalink receiver, then delete the vehicle and add it again to make it work.

However, there is two things for which i have no success:

1 - To test the soft, i just created a route with a start, a little grid, and a landing. 

All is okay, except of the landing. The quad comes back at the landing point and stands at the same elevation, without descending. The 'return to home' button has no effect, i have to launch either a failsafe or switch in atti mode and land manually.

2- I can't figure out how to take automatic views with the gopro. When UgCS calculates the route, it indicates the number of views that will be taken, but nothing happens. I tried to add the action 'take photos' in the grid plan (once by time, by distance, in automatic mode...), but it never takes photos. GoPro is attached with the usb cable.

I saw that the emulator was coming with a gopro, and i also read in the manual that the naza and gopro sould work, but i didn't manage to do it :(  

The only thing i can do is to take TimeLapse views manually (and it makes a lot of photos!! :p)

Maybe someone could help me to manage to control the goPro with UgCS. By the way, thanks for this very nice software.

    Hi!

    Thanks for Your interest in our software!

    1. - Landing is not supported for DJI Naza-M V2 unfortunately, but we will check about Return home command. That should have worked.

    2. Are You sure that both the Hero 4 and H3-3D are properly configured and feature camera triggering? As well as Naza-M V2 beeing properly configured. Additionally I may suggest You to test the trigger in DJI GS.

    Since we do not own every type of hardware, I can not assure it will work 100%, but if all the parts in question are capable of triggering camera, there should be a way to make it work in UgCS.

    Please make sure the configuration is correct and if You have any question, let us know!

      1. The return button seems to not work if i insert a landing point in the route, and wait the drone to go to this point.

      2. Well, all is properly configured. However it seems that the gopro cannot be triggered, even in DJI GS...

      It appears that i will have to continue Time lapse mode!

      Thanks for the clarification regarding "Return Home" function.

      Regarding triggering GoPro 4, it might be that additional configuring or hardware is required to trigger the camera properly. We only provide triggering trough flight controller, but we are not responsible for proper hardware config.
