Adam Erickson replied to Mark P. Ludwig's discussion Small scale LiDAR and Agriculture remote sensing in Terrain/Surface Mapping
"Hi Mark,
As others mentioned, be sure to consider the currently overly restrictive regulatory environment.
That aside, the most affordable airborne laser scanning LiDAR systems - none of which are cheap - are the Hokuyo, Velodyne and YellowScan…"

Adam Erickson commented on Mark Williams's blog post Automated land cover classification for conservation and habitat monitoring
"These papers loosely describes eCognition's nearest neighbor supervised classification algorithm with fuzzy rules (link and link). It is based on the feauture space of the sample objects. eCognition provides a rich toolset for nearest neighbor…"

Adam Erickson commented on Paul Bupe's blog post Autonomous UAV Clustering Network
"No, Paul's right: http://research.gsu.edu/economic-development/technology-transfer/in... Here at University of British Columbia, we grad students retain our IP."

Adam Erickson commented on Paul Bupe's blog post Autonomous UAV Clustering Network
"Excellent work, Paul. I for one hope the FAA rescinds its proposed rule on swarming."

Adam Erickson commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Full Solo launch video
"@Chris Sounds like an excellent refinement to an already solid product."

Adam Erickson commented on Chris Anderson's blog post High-precision RTK GPS coming to ArduPilot
"Marc: I believe the electronics are below the GPS and telemetry antennae. These components don't require a lot of space. It's probably based on the same architecture as the AR Drone."

Adam Erickson commented on Chris Anderson's blog post High-precision RTK GPS coming to ArduPilot
"Marc: senseFly never really had to jam anything into an eBee to support RTK ;)"

Adam Erickson commented on Emlid's blog post First flight of Linux APM on Raspberry Pi 2 with Navio+
"Great, thank you! Can I order the ground station GPS as well?

Yes, two Odroids running in parallel connected to one Navio."

Adam Erickson commented on Emlid's blog post First flight of Linux APM on Raspberry Pi 2 with Navio+
"I'm in the same boat here as JB. Is it still possible to get the offer?"

Adam Erickson commented on Emlid's blog post First flight of Linux APM on Raspberry Pi 2 with Navio+
"Does the Navio+ support stacking of the Odroids? I know drone computer vision researchers have done this successfully with the Odroid U3 boards. This could provide redundancy too, addressing the main system shortcoming."

Adam Erickson commented on Emlid's blog post First flight of Linux APM on Raspberry Pi 2 with Navio+
"Looks great! I imagine the relative strengths of the Erle Brain are its redundant IMUs and built-in 4GB eMMC, which add quite a bit of safety (e.g., no card to dislodge and cause a system crash). However, the BBB can be a pain even for simple things…"

Adam Erickson commented on Emlid's blog post Navio+ and Odroid-C1: the most powerful Linux autopilot
"Does the Navio+ support stacking two Odroid C1 boards? I know UAS researchers have done this with the U3 boards."

Adam Erickson commented on Víctor Mayoral's blog post PixHawk Fire cape crowdfunding campaign
"Excellent advice from Chris. B^3 Drone or Pixhawk B^3 could work too for the BeagleBone Black, which is typically abbreviated BBB."

Adam Erickson commented on Víctor Mayoral's blog post PixHawk Fire cape crowdfunding campaign
"Nice work!"

Adam Erickson commented on Jeff Huang's blog post Affordable, Arduino-compatible, Centimeter-Level GPS Accuracy
"Is is still possible to get the $50 two NS-RAW receiver deal?"

Adam Erickson replied to Mark Van Haze's discussion Kerosene jet with Arduplane crash analysis
"Were you using one of the differential pressure air speed sensors?"
