Adam Kroll commented on Kristaps Brass's blog post How we spent 8 days on an ice cap in Greenland and found a lost WWII P-38 fighter
"Wow, what a great story.  So you found the WWII bomber on your first line of first flight? You must have been jumping for joy.  I'm a geophysicist and would love to know what GPR unit you used, can you please post a link, thanks."

Adam Kroll commented on Mauricio's blog post Aeromapper Talon demonstrates BVLOS capabilities by flying 30Km away from operators
"What will the Talon do when a manned helicopter doing mustering is in the flight path of the Talon over the horizon?"

Adam Kroll commented on Jacob Cereteli's blog post Fixed-wing UAV launch from car top
"Thats a really good development.  The release mechanism looks quite simple, could you elaborate on how it works?  Are you using an ardupilot  autopilot? Any problems so far with parachute landings? "

Adam Kroll commented on Julian's blog post 3DR's Rise and Fall
"If you have over 300 employees, you have the capability to develop and market products like the Solo as well as continuing to produce and deliver all DIY Hobby hardware.  Its unbelievable that you would say, the RC hobby market is too small, our…"

Adam Kroll commented on Michele Dallachiesa's blog post Skysense Wins NASA WorldWind Europa Challenge 2016
"I was thinking if it could be possible on a satellite modem bandwidth, that way it would work anywhere in the world, regardless of whether there's a phone tower or not."

Adam Kroll commented on Michele Dallachiesa's blog post Skysense Wins NASA WorldWind Europa Challenge 2016
"This is a great idea if it can be done safely.  Also remote sites where we fly our UAV's often have poor internet connections, if the data transfer rate is minimised it would be effective over more regions of the world."

Adam Kroll commented on Zubax Robotics's blog post PX4 Sapog - advanced open source ESC from the PX4 team
"If a company is going to develop a higher voltage hardware version, may as well go to 8S as there are a few (namely my plane) that operate 8S for the increased efficiency."

Adam Kroll replied to Thomas J Coyle III's discussion Autonomous RMRC Anaconda R/C Plane Project in ArduPlane User Group
"I haven't fully tested the flight time because it gets boring once the plane has been up in the air for an hour.  From memory, I was using 4500mah from a 6S in about 50 minutes of flight (It had a camera on board though).  The Anaconda is a test…"

Adam Kroll replied to Paddy Dangerfield's discussion Hydrographic surveying
"A lower frequency laser at about 532nm will penetrate the water surface.  So look for a lidar system that is a lower frequency than the standard 905nm.
I don't know if there's one available commercially for UAV's but that's what you'd use from a…"

Adam Kroll replied to Thomas J Coyle III's discussion Autonomous RMRC Anaconda R/C Plane Project in ArduPlane User Group
"I definitely wouldn't be hand launching it. Its really made to glide efficiently, its not too reactive at all."

Adam Kroll commented on Nicholas Witham's blog post Pixracer (actually a counterfeit): Now available from Hobbyking!
"Would we have the pixracer today if 3dr didn't open source the pixhawk hardware?  Perhaps it would have cost AUAV a lot more money to develop it without the pixhawk schematics and they wouldn't have bothered.
Open sourcing has its negatives, but it…"

Adam Kroll commented on Martin Hill's blog post Long Endurance Drone RC Airship
"Great work Martin, thats amazing endurance, any longer and you'll have to work out how to cope with varying temperature changes expanding or contracting the helium.  The airships too small to have an internal ballonet."

Adam Kroll commented on Chris Anderson's blog post uAvionix (ADS-B for Pixhawk) raises VC from Andy Rubin of Google/Android fame
"Another problem is hang gliders, sky divers etc, it'll be quite a while until everyone is carrying an ADS-B."

Adam Kroll commented on Nick Arsov's blog post Some new I2C devices from AUAV Co.
"@Maxime C Do you use a pixhawk to get the 6 airspeed readings?  If so how do you do it,  I'd just like to have a redundant air speed sensor, but from my limited knowledge it seems this can't be done through I2C, it would need to be through canbus."

"I forgot to say, congratulations Martin, your two years of work appears to have paid off."

Adam Kroll commented on Martin Hill's blog post RC Airship as Drone
"Hydrogen only gives you about 4% more lift, its main benefit is its abundance and is therefore cheaper, but then when you add the cost of all of the safety equipment you need to refill the hydrogen you may as well go helium.  An airship as small as…"
