"Has anyone seen an Octa-V frame for sale?
I've seen a few home-built frames, but none in production."

Andrew Chapman replied to Daniel Paez's discussion new start with the ebee by Sensefly
"For anyone using eBees, I've just started a user group online with the idea of sharing tips+tricks and discussing issues specific to this platform. Hopefully it can build up into a useful resource.…"

Andrew Chapman replied to Andrew Chapman's discussion Any UAV businesses or research in Sydney? in Australia
"A couple of years later, but looping back on this to say I've joined Australian UAV (www.auav.com.au) to expand their operations into Sydney+NSW. We use a mix of eBees (very expensive, but amazingly reliable) and DIY builds for larger areas or…"

Andrew Chapman commented on Andrew Chapman's blog post A Pixhawk powered job for Fox Sports
"Tridge: sounds like a more thorough solution on both counts, good stuff

John: camera is a GH4, which is almost the perfect aerials camera in my book. The gimbal is customized from a famoushobby BG003 (added dual bars and aluminium roll bar, both to…"

Hi everyone, The question comes up from time to time as to whether the Pixhawk is a good alternative to DJI, Mikrokopter, etc for professional use in heavy-lift cinematography. So I wanted to mention this high profile and *very* high risk job we…

Andrew Chapman replied to Andrew Chapman's discussion X8 coax thrust induced vibration
"18" CF props from TMotor, they don't get much stiffer than that! Being larger slower turning props I'm guessing this is a frequency thing that you wouldn't get on smaller faster props.
There's approx 10cm spacing between the props, btw.
Stuart: the…"

Hi all, Since moving to high-end motors and props I have had very low vibes in all my craft, so I was surprised to run into vibration issues in a recent build, my first X8. I did all the usual things of (re)checking all my motors and props for…

Andrew Chapman replied to ThatJoshGuy's discussion Pixhawk BAD ACCEL HEALTH APM 3.2 - collecting data
"Thanks for looking Tridge -- I'll take another look but with vibes generally under 0.1g I would have thought I'm in the clear, do you think it is because of the frequency rather than the amplitude?
Also, I swapped out the Pixhawk for another one and…"

Andrew Chapman replied to ThatJoshGuy's discussion Pixhawk BAD ACCEL HEALTH APM 3.2 - collecting data
"Not sure if it is the same, but I logged a similar issue on the support forum here, with logs:
http://ardupilot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=11076
It isn't failing pre-arm checks for me, but IMU+IMU2 have a high degree of variance, and on one…"

Andrew Chapman replied to Zwonimir's discussion Different rpm for bottom engines at coax possible?
"I see the coax differential speed thing is logged as an issue, but it looks like nobody has got to it yet:
https://github.com/diydrones/ardupilot/issues/1467

Typically you want the lower props 10-15% faster than the top, and to run at a higher…"

Hi everyone, Although it is less of an issue for the DIY/hobby end of things (we all seem able to use the word 'drone' without thinking of hellfire missiles), but I've been getting pretty tired of the argument in wider circles and dancing around…

Andrew Chapman commented on Sandro Benigno's blog post GeoTagging Images on Mission Planner
"It's a bit confusing but support should be through the ardupilot.com forums rather than diydrones forums these days. The intention is that diydrones is for general discussion and info sharing, and the other forums are for support.

Here's the one…"

Andrew Chapman commented on Sandro Benigno's blog post GeoTagging Images on Mission Planner
"I'm not saying it is definitely broken, but I've never had much success with the geo-ref functionality built in to Mission Planner.
I use GeoSetter (free, http://www.geosetter.de/en/). Just import your pics, import the .gpx file, figure out the…"

Andrew Chapman replied to Oliver Volkmann's discussion Altitude Hold Proving Dangerous
"Do you have a log with vibration logging turned on?
If your vibes are too high althold can go nuts, as it can't accurately measure whether you're moving up or down in amongst all the high frequency noise."
