About Me:

I have built and flow UAV's, hombuilt aircraft, ultralights, and a WW2 warbird. I am a mechanical engineer and while I work at a fortune 500 company, I maintain a home based prototyping busniness.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I love anything that flies! I have recently gotten into the multirotor crowd and built a small quad with FPV based on an ATV downlink into a head mounted display.

Brian Christian replied to Brian Christian's discussion Tarot Gimbal not working.
"Matt,
I tried everything. Eventually I bought a new main board and sensor board and replaced them, I wasn't to happy about having to do this on a brand new gimbal, however it works now. I must say I'm not impressed with the quality control of the…"

I have finally gotten around to upgrading my Hex with a Tarot Gimbal.  I have it mounted, assembled, and connected, but it isn't working.  I connect it to power and it will start up and then go crazy, it jitters and then will pitch 90 - 180 degress…

So I fired up the 3-D printer and heard some not so nice noises coming form the print head. After opening it I located a cooling fan for the printhead driver circuit had bearings going out (this seems to be a common theme lately). I was able to…

"Vladimir,
I basically designed this frame myself. I wanted it to be able to fit in a 6" piece of tubing for an outer shell. If I choose to go that route. I can send you the g-code if you would like.
Thanks,

After my quad flew itself into the side of my workshop and destroying itself, I decided to go with a hex after having bearing issues with my motors and having a motor lock up in flight. With a hex at least I have a bit more redundancy. My design I…

Brian Christian replied to Dean's discussion APM Orientation
"I too am having the same problem in stabilize with the addition of  flight mode switching from x to +.  and it is spontaneous.  Luckily it all happens at 1 meter or below and it is recognized fairly quickly and I can re orient the frame using yaw to…"

"I like this, in the bigger picture this makes sense and is a good direction for all of us! However, safety needs to be the forefront of the process as you are now dealing with items that can kill and with laws written in blood.  But as a engineer…"

I just finished upgrading my quad to the ADM 2.5 and all was working great yesterday as I assembled and tested the system.  I tuned it up today and went to fly it.  Stabilize worked great but when I switched to loiter, it held position within a 10'…

Brian Christian replied to David Harvey's discussion Possibly faulty barometer component in APM 2.5
"I am having the same issue, got the APM installed and tuned and went to fly it, Loiter held position but it kept slowy decending.  Looked at altitude and it was at a constant -70455496.00 feet and will not move.  I opened the case figuring it was…"
