Christopher Cooper replied to Stewart A Aucoin's discussion Telemetry Not communicating with APM
"I was having similar issues until I realised my APM was doing funny things to my airside Xbee by sending it data before it was ready. I don't think it was bricked, as I could still plug it in and connect to it using XCTU, but it certainly wasn't…"

Hi all,I've been out of the game for a few months and just got round to installing 3.0.1. Testing it out today in the back yard it seemed to work fine until I switched to Alt-Hold. In Alt-Hold mode the just kept wanting to climb until I switched it…

Christopher Cooper commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Latest improvements to the Mission Planner
"Forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference between the "X" and "H" configuration? To my eyes it looks like the motors are in the same place, and the APM is oriented the same."

How do I connect a non 3dr (sparkfun) current sensor to the APM2.5? Same way as the 2.0?The manual appears to be missing most of its pictures (http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/common-using-a-current-sensor/). Apologies if this has been covered…

Christopher Cooper replied to Austin Suhler's discussion Level automatically adjusting in flight...
"Just a thought, do you have automatic trim enabled and assigned to channel 7?
The way I see it, if this were the case and channel 7 was always "high" this could lead to what you've described.
See here for auto trim:…"

Christopher Cooper replied to Christopher Cooper's discussion Getting some pretty funky logs in ArduCopter 2.8.1
"Any ideas? Is there a better place to be posting this? Not sure if its arducopter or mission planner that's giving me problems."

Christopher Cooper replied to Andre K.'s discussion the danger of stopping motors mid-air - tested, now what ?
"I accidentally shut off my motors in flights doing exactly what you described. I immediately showed the throttle up full and no harm was done (it was pretty high at the time).
Video of the  flight (around 4:03 for motor shutoff):"

Christopher Cooper replied to Boke's discussion APM 2.5 Opical Flow Failed to initialise ADNS3080
"Is the optical flow supported on the APM 2.5?

On my APM2 I often get this error in conjunction with the dreaded data flash error. Reinserting and securing the flash card often makes it go away.

Also make sure the optical flow sensor isn't in it's…"

Christopher Cooper replied to Christopher Cooper's discussion First run with my APM - help balancing needed (Bixler)
"Well it's dead.

After launch It seemed to be responding appropriately to my control inputs, staying relatively level on its own. Then I flicked it into stabilise and it suddenly rolled over. Flicked it back into manual mode but it was too late to…"

Christopher Cooper replied to Christopher Cooper's discussion Getting some pretty funky logs in ArduCopter 2.8.1
"I reflashed the firmware and reset the EEPROM before I went flying yesterday. Logs were even crazier this time. The log menu in the CLI gave me this:
12 logsLog -23659, start 1, end 1Log -23658, start 1, end 1

The only way to download the log was…"

Christopher Cooper replied to Christopher Cooper's discussion Quad descends for no apparent reason - motor/prop issue?
"Apologies for bringing up this old thread but I thought I should update it with my latest findings.
I took the plunge and replaced the motors with the 850kv ones from the DIYdrones store. This didn't make much of a difference.
However, I then…"

Christopher Cooper replied to Christopher Cooper's discussion First run with my APM - help balancing needed (Bixler)
"Public holiday in Melbourne today so I was able to head out this morning for another try. I had relocated to GoPro to the cockpit and adjusted the balance as necessary by adding weights to the tail. It was perfectly balancing at 65-70mm from the…"
