Hello everyone. I have not been on the site in some time, and the question I am about to ask pertains to a post I know I read on here about a year ago, but have been unable to locate it. I am looking for a piece of hardware mentioned in a post from…

Been a long time away from the website, and I gotta say you guys and gals have made some significant improvements to an already impressive system. I hope to be back in the field playing with our UATs this summer. I have a question/suggestion, and it…

Clarence Hanson commented on Clarence Hanson's blog post Our very first flight (with two way telemetry)
"Been a long time guys!

Unfortunately, with the semester starting up and it being too cold to fly comfortably in Michigan (we go to an Air Force base so its a process to get flying) we have put the project on hold.

I would be more than happy,…"

Clarence Hanson replied to Diarmuid Wrenne's discussion Multiple Serial Devices
"We use a software line with success. The soft serial library contained with the Arduino IDE is severely lacking, but Mikal Harts Soft Serial library (http://arduiniana.org/) is much more functional (although it shares a timer used to control servos,…"

Clarence Hanson replied to Diarmuid Wrenne's discussion Software Serial for GPS
"I forgot to mention. When we use the software serial line to communicate we do get jitters in our servos. I imagine this is because the timers normally used for holding the servos are being "borrowed" to operate the software line, but I am no…"

Clarence Hanson commented on Bryan's blog post Airspeed
"So I could be wrong, but I do not think you should think of the differential pressure sensor as a pitiot tube. A pitot tube takes the static and pressure from the same air flow, but with the shield one pressure is read from the flow while the other…"

Clarence Hanson commented on Pete Burnight's blog post 2nd Arduino adds 2-way Com with Ground
"I like this system. We implimented two way also, and we didnt go with a second Arduino because of cost (we are trying to build a swarm), but this opens up ports and you get to leave your I2C line open"

Clarence Hanson commented on Clarence Hanson's blog post Our very first flight (with two way telemetry)
"I would be happy to share the source code for the ArduPilot and documentation on the changes made and the comm protocol but not the groundstation."

"So the very first thing I did was add the software serial line. I used a library that can be found here:
http://arduiniana.org/
Next, we created an array in RAM for the WPs that we upload. We decided that writing to the EEPROM while flying might be…"

Clarence Hanson commented on Pete Burnight's blog post Tune and Trim a Magpie
"Rather than using the same serial line for GPS and telem, what we did, was simply add a software serial line to pins 8 and 11. This allows us to communicated at about 12 Hz with filtering and all that fun stuff. We have tested this system, actually…"

"Instructables used to have a guide that makes a pre paid cell phone text you its GPS coordinates (or email) when you call it, so you can get its coordinates anywhere a cell phone gets reception. A group of students who do balloon satellite tests use…"
