DBX Drones commented on Jimmy Oliver's blog post Phantom 3 No-Servo Cargo Drop System
"With all the respect: How do you know where you are dropping the cargo if camera is not pointing downwards? As I see in your web page and above comments, the problem you are trying to solve is to drop grenades which I respect but completely repudiate…"

DBX Drones commented on Andrew Tridgell's blog post Building, flying and not crashing a large OctaQuadPlane
"@Jaime and @TridgeAgree with both.
If comparing full electric quadplane and full electric tilt-rotor: They are both more or less the same in terms of performance. One is more similar to multicopters the other is more similar to fix-wing. It depends…"

DBX Drones commented on DBX Drones's blog post DBX Drones: Progress so far
"@Jonny Glad you like it! We are building it for people like you!Your are right, you could point rear prop downwards and then use it for propulsion. The thing is, we haven't seen we need it and want to avoid the mechanical complexity of doing so.But,…"

DBX Drones commented on DBX Drones's blog post DBX Drones: Progress so far
"@Andreas that is a good point and some of the questions all of us must make. That is why we are making a survey: to understand what people value and need most on drones and to Validate if a VTOL is something interesting.
See here the survey, where…"

DBX Drones posted a blog post
Hi there! This is the DBX Drones team. Some time ago we presented you our design concept for a hybrid cargo drone. and since then we have been working on the idea and two months ago we decided to start working full time in this project and found a…

DBX Drones commented on Andrew Tridgell's blog post Building, flying and crashing a large QuadPlane
"@iskess Sorry, I didn't understand your previous question. I was answering something different.

Regarding quadplane motors tilting angles: I don't see the advantage of doing that given the complexity that adds. You could do something similar by…"

DBX Drones commented on Andrew Tridgell's blog post Building, flying and crashing a large QuadPlane
"@iskess I would tilt the motors enough degrees so that vertical Lift plus vertical Thrust is a reference you give. That depends on TAS and AoAAnother question for the experts like Tridge is how to estimate AoA"

DBX Drones commented on Andrew Tridgell's blog post Building, flying and crashing a large QuadPlane
"@Andrew Wow, that is what pioneering has. Congratulations!
Maybe accounting for TAS, AoA and SS in QHOVER controller could help you :)"

DBX Drones commented on Andrew Tridgell's blog post Building, flying and crashing a large QuadPlane
"@Andrew Tridgell Amazingly well executed. It is far better to do what you said. I thought it was motors saturation in the video due to yaw channel saturation. If it is yaw rate controlled: Why was it having yaw-roll coupled perturbations then?
I am…"

DBX Drones commented on Andrew Tridgell's blog post Building, flying and crashing a large QuadPlane
"Congratulations for the amazing development! It is really inspiring!
Just a question (I hope it helps) When transitioning: Do you control heading or heading rate?"

DBX Drones commented on Chris Anderson's blog post ETH's Raffaello D'Andrea presenting at TED -- Wow!
"As always, Raffaello and ETH making the impossible possible. We have learnt so much about control, guidance and navigation from them...This is when you realize how powerful the open source community is. As he says: it is difficult to estimate how…"
