Dan Murray commented on Chris Anderson's blog post New EKF viewer in Mission Planner/APM:Copter 3.3
"Thirded, this is great, should be on its own tab"

Dan Murray commented on Jeevan Kalanithi's blog post Another Solo gimbal update -- now shipping!
"Me too. This has been a test of patience, that's for sure. I ordered back in May expecting to have it in time for a September trip, now I'm wondering if that's even going to happen. Hope the B&H preorders go out at the same time."

Dan Murray commented on Jeevan Kalanithi's blog post More gimbal news
"Appreciate the post, but the real question now is this: when will the gimbals be in our hands? I would hope 3DR will be shipping these air vs sea to get them here quicker, and hopefully the production runs are such that they'll end up i the wild…"

Dan Murray commented on Gary McCray's blog post Great deal on a 3 axis gimbal with Alexmos controller
"Oops, didn't even see your post Gary - looks like you were right - I completely missed the option to invert in the software, probably would have been easier than switching the cables."

Dan Murray commented on Gary McCray's blog post Great deal on a 3 axis gimbal with Alexmos controller
"Ah, scratch that...it was what I suspected. I switched two of the yaw motor cables and we're in business.

Next question: any way to speed up the yaw follow? It works fine but waits a bit too long to catch up for my liking."

Dan Murray commented on Gary McCray's blog post Great deal on a 3 axis gimbal with Alexmos controller
"Hey guys,
Here's a video of the issue I'm having with yaw. Seems to me like the control is reversed, as the error builds exponentially...seems like it thinks it is correct in the opposite direction. Any ideas?"

Dan Murray commented on Gary McCray's blog post Great deal on a 3 axis gimbal with Alexmos controller
"Hey Gary,

Thanks for your message. Actually, DSLRPros felt the gimbal was bad too and sent me a new IMU and processor. I just replaced it today, and things are significantly better, but not fixed.

Now, it only seems to freak out in the yaw…"

Dan Murray commented on Gary McCray's blog post Great deal on a 3 axis gimbal with Alexmos controller
"Mike,

I tried every single one of the profiles you sent, and none work. It's still seizing as much as before. Even sitting still with the motors turned off, the gyro and accel readings are all over the place, which just doesn't make sense for…"

Dan Murray commented on Gary McCray's blog post Great deal on a 3 axis gimbal with Alexmos controller
"Mike,

Thought I saved the profile (I do have a file) but may have missed a step. Would be great if you could resend. FWIW, it was going crazy from the second I plugged it in, only started messing with it in an attempt to fix.

Thanks"

Dan Murray commented on Gary McCray's blog post Great deal on a 3 axis gimbal with Alexmos controller
"Does anyone else's just plain not work? I think I got scammed with a bad one or something. Spent the last three hours trying to get it to work, different firmware version, accel calibrations, gyro calibrations, different PIDs, no matter what it just…"

Dan Murray commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Will Google's low-cost ADSB integrate delivery drones into manned airspace?
"I disagree. An affordable, on-board ADS-B in/out transponder with TIS-B is a simple, fail-safe method of sense and avoid. And heavy? The Sagetech transponder is 100g.
If you're going to relay from the ground, you need the following:

A reliable…"

Dan Murray commented on Patrick Duffy's blog post Part 2: How to build a High-Definition FPV UAV using a Rasperry PI with HD camera, using a high speed WiFi link
"@Patrick, thank you!

Have you tried on an RPi2 yet? Converted my setup over to the 2, seem to be getting more pixelation than I remember."

"Hey Patrick, would you mind posting your script to compile Gstreamer 1.4?

Thanks!"

Dan Murray replied to Dan Murray's discussion First impressions in 3DR SOLO
"Bill, I think that's a very good point and most likely a significant contributing factor.

I'm not terribly upset as the Solo itself snapped back together for the most part, and my GoPro, while a little worse for the wear, seems to actually be OK. I…"
