About Me:

Love all things aviation/space based. Long term RC flyer wanted to know how planes work so studied aerospace engineering. Enjoyed it so much that I decided to do a PhD (almost finished) in Hypersonics, optimising a scramjet powered accelerator for small scale access to space. Got into UAVs around 2009 starting with a micropilot followed by a APM 1 in 2010, never looked back!

"Ravi, fuselage structure is made from plywood with a foam core. This combination results in a light yet solid structure...it can take a lot of abuse! We tried foam sides but it was just not durable enough."

"Another week...damn that gives Rob and his heli more time to catch up!!! I think the Eaglet will be on standby just in case.
The rover guys are starting to look good but where is Chris and his super kart?!"

"Air speed was around 28m/s, and bank limit 80 deg. Thanks! We are also very happy with how it flies. Did you do any more heli runs? "

"OK, very long windy day for us but here is our final attempt. Got it down to 221 seconds, and this time with some on board video!

And a shot of the track, not as neat as the previous attempts but there was a strong unsteady wind almost all day…"

"Well, after a few failed attempts, we have a good one!
Full auto mission in 269 seconds (KML).

We are using a Pixhawk with Ardupilot, and must say a big thank you for all the developers and contributors, it is an excellent package!

Really starting…"

Dawid Preller replied to Jake Green's discussion E-flite 440h Motor Failure
"Jake, I would say that you are using too large a prop for that motor. You are probably drawing close to 30amps on that setup and therefore the ESC is overheating and cutting power to the motor. The problem here is that that motor is a fast one and…"

Dawid Preller replied to Jake Green's discussion E-flite 440h Motor Failure
"Hi Jake, it sounds like you are overloading the system...lets try and fix it!
Do you know what amps your motor is pulling at full throttle? Should be below 25A for the 440h.
What speed controller are you using?
And what is the prop diameter and…"

Dawid Preller commented on Gary Mortimer's blog post T3 Back to the Future
"Hahaha! Yes I did the walk of shame because my prop produced too much thrust and the ESC could not handle it!! It was right on the limit in the ground tests and I though that it would unload much more in the air...but it did not..
Gary, there was…"
