Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I've been building drones for about a year now. Built two using Naza Lite. I'm up for a bigger challenge, so I'm about to start a new build using a Tarot hex frame and a Pixhawk.

Eric Krasting replied to Fernando Calatayud's discussion F450 Quadcopter Baterry
"It won't do any damage.  It just might not get you off the ground."

Eric Krasting replied to Fernando Calatayud's discussion F450 Quadcopter Baterry
"It really depends on the size of your build.  Typically, most quads operate best at 12V and above (usually 3S or 4S).  Lower voltage means less power.  Less power means smaller motors and speed controllers and a smaller, lighter body.  You're…"

Eric Krasting replied to Tim Pritts's discussion Can I change the Pixhawk flight mode channel? in PIXHAWK
"You should be able to reassign the switches on your Tx.  I've never used a turnigy, but there should be some way to reassign switches to different channels.  There may be a way to hack into the pixhawk and change the channel, but someone much…"

Eric Krasting replied to Umut TEKİN's discussion Quadcopter X in ArduCopter User Group
"Also, make sure your motor layout is correct.  On an "X" quad, starting from the front left arm, going clockwise, the motors go 3, 1, 4, 2.  Here's a link to the diagrams:

Eric Krasting replied to Christopher Gehrich's discussion Trouble With 5V Linear BECs in Parallel in ArduCopter User Group
"Not sure if this helps, but I have a similar setup.  I have an independent BEC soldered into the PDB.  Draws directly from the battery rather than from the ESCs.  It's pretty cheap and easy to setup.  Or just get a smaller, independent battery to…"

Eric Krasting replied to Paul Williamson's discussion Better ground station platform, Windows or Mac? in PIXHAWK
"I've got the Nvdia Shield.  Really like it.  Nice and fast and hooking into MavLink was a breeze with it."

Eric Krasting replied to Paul Williamson's discussion Better ground station platform, Windows or Mac? in PIXHAWK
"I'm a mac guy, so I'm stuck with that.  Works fine for me, but I have heard that the Windows Mission Planner is better.  Tower, just released for Android (and DroidPlanner before it) are great choices.  For most of the time, I use my Android tablet…"

I just finished up a 680 hex Pixhawk build.  I'm using the DJI 600E tuned power system (ESCs and motors).  It's "optimized" for 6S LiPos.  I just had some real successful test flights.  13 minutes of moderate maneuvers.  It flew great, and I'm not…

Eric Krasting replied to RICARDO CUBILLOS's discussion Tarot 2D doesn't seem to do anything
"I'm having the exact same issue as you, Ricardo.  Very annoying.  My board worked fine until I tried updating the firmware, then it died.  From everything I see, it looks like a fried board.  So I ordered a new one... $50 down the drain and probably…"

Eric Krasting replied to Eric Krasting's discussion Tarot gimbal problems
"Update... now when i plug my Tarot board in, all i get is three quick yellow/green light flashes.  Then nothing.  No movement, no nothing.  Does this sound like a bad board?  Should i start from scratch?"

Hi-Hoping someone out there can help me with an issue with the Tarot 2-axis gimbal.  I hooked it up out of the box (didn't buy it from 3DR), plugged it in, and it worked perfectly.  Leveled immediately, tracked pitch and roll perfect.  No problems.…
