About Me:

Quiet, somewhat boring sometimes. A bit eccentric. Generally a nice guy though! :-)

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

Started off with a Blade 350QX which I still have and fly just for fun. Got a 3DRobotics IRIS which I use for aerial photos and a little FPV. Plan to build my own quad eventually.

Gary Hallman replied to Gary Hallman's discussion Iris *almost* crash and logs... in IRIS
"I will install the Pixhawk relocation fix when I upgrade the rest of Iris. I have the kit on order and I figure since I have to tear everything apart anyway it's a good time to install it. As for the firmware, there are some features in the newer…"

Gary Hallman replied to Gary Hallman's discussion Iris *almost* crash and logs... in IRIS
"Update: After discovering the vibration issue, I decided to try swapping props. Problem gone! Flies perfectly! I'm not sure what happened to the props I had on Iris but they must have got damaged somehow but I can't see anything. No nicks, missing…"

Gary Hallman replied to Gary Hallman's discussion Iris *almost* crash and logs... in IRIS
"I tried that and was generally ignored. I finally deleted my post there out of frustration. I think I have the answer though. It's taking me a bit to learn to read these logs but it seems there is a vibration problem. I have to thank Christian for…"

Gary Hallman replied to Gary Hallman's discussion Iris *almost* crash and logs... in IRIS
"Hi Christian. Thanks for the reply. I was starting to wonder if anyone noticed any of my posts here or on Facebook. I did get the relocation kit but at the time, I wasn't having any problems (or so I thought) so I never installed it. I now have the…"

Gary Hallman posted a discussion in IRIS
I flew Iris yesterday for the first time in a few weeks. I had just updated it to 3.2-rc9 and run through all the needed re-calibrations. When it lifted off in Stabilize it didn't quite feel right but it wasn't anything obvious. When I switched to…

"Tried 3.2-rc3 yesterday - Everything seemed to work Ok but drift mode still turns very slowly."

Gary Hallman replied to Randy's discussion ArduCopter-3.2 beta testing
"Thanks for the reply! I tried fiddling around with one of the "ATC_" settings, the one that looked like the most logical one and test flew it a bit. Not sure I had the right one since I couldn't see much if any difference. That's when it hit me that…"

Gary Hallman replied to Randy's discussion ArduCopter-3.2 beta testing
"I gave 3.2 rc2 a try tonight. So far I love it and the only thing I noticed was Drift mode (my Andropilot on my phone keeps calling it "Toy") seemed really slowed down. Where before the turns were quick (and fun) like bank and yank on a warbird now…"

Gary Hallman replied to Euan Ramsay's discussion 3.1.4 - we have Hybrid mode now?
"LOL! Well that might explain why it looked so much like Loiter mode to me. I couldn't really get it moving very fast in any one direction so it probably never switched modes."

Gary Hallman replied to Euan Ramsay's discussion 3.1.4 - we have Hybrid mode now?
"Just for curiousity sake (and also because I'm slightly crazy) I loaded up 3.2-rc1 and gave it a try. I set up one of the two stabilize modes to be Hybrid. When I switched to it, Andropilot said "unknown". Tell the truth, I couldn't really see any…"
