Graham replied to malcolm churn's discussion ArduCopter Traditional Heli (was: "600-size heli")
"I have been flying with HXT900 servos with limited success.  I think they are too jittery and too slow to work well with the flybarless head and the APM.  What do you guys think?  What servo's are you using?  I am thinking about ordering something…"

Graham replied to malcolm churn's discussion ArduCopter Traditional Heli (was: "600-size heli")
"Hey guys.  I am having problems with my magnetometer.  I haven't been able to get it to return correct and consistent values.  I haven't been able to find any postings from people with similar issues.  Here is what my values look like with the heli…"

Graham replied to Chris Pitts's discussion Hardware-in-the-loop for traditional helicopter drones in ArduCopter (traditional heli) user group
"Have you looked at the hardware-in-loop for quad rotors?  I think you would be able to find or create a flightgear traditional heli model that would work and then be able to adapt the code.  I haven't tried to do hardward-in-loop yet, but am…"

Graham replied to malcolm churn's discussion ArduCopter Traditional Heli (was: "600-size heli")
"I was telling you all earlier about the problems I had with drift (the heli would gradually roll or pitch more and more and would require more stick input just to keep it level).  I haven't had a chance to fly it again or try the hardware filter…"

Graham replied to malcolm churn's discussion ArduCopter Traditional Heli (was: "600-size heli")
"Turns out I can include logging and still run it on the 1280!  Unfortunately my problems returned today.  On nearly every flight I had a significant bias build up in the elevator and aileron control.  ie. I had to give it more and more aileron…"

Graham replied to malcolm churn's discussion ArduCopter Traditional Heli (was: "600-size heli")
"Think I forgot to mention that I managed to get the code to fit on my AT1280.  I just had to add these two lines to the config and it loaded without problems.  The first line only includes the code for my particular GPS (not for all supported GPS)…"

Graham replied to malcolm churn's discussion ArduCopter Traditional Heli (was: "600-size heli")
"Got my 450 flying in stabilize mode today!  It is pretty sketchy at this point.  I think I have to do some work tuning the PIDs and perhaps tune it mechanically as well.  I pretty well rebuild it: new blades, new head, new flybarless upgrade, new…"

Graham replied to malcolm churn's discussion ArduCopter Traditional Heli (was: "600-size heli")
"Guys,
Been flying my 450 with an APM and the old arducopter code for a few months.  Haven't had nearly enough time to devote to it, but I have now found some time to start adding a GPS and mag and getting it all mounted on the heli.  I am planning…"

I built a TRex 450 with an APM mounted as suggested by Randy but am thinking about changing it and mounting it in a different way that would result in the APM being upside down.  My question is, can I easily correct this by modifying the code?  Is…

Graham replied to Randy's discussion Anybody know of a company that can cut carbon fibre plates cheaply?
"I had previously suggested Big Blue Saw since Simon there had told me that they were working on doing CF soon.  Did you have any luck with them?  BTW.  I am a mechanical engineer, so if you need any help with drawings etc. then let me know.

I am…"
