About Me:

I am a former U.S. Army Soldier and government contractor. I have always been fascinated with technology. I study, research and implement technologies every chance I get.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

My plan is to build a fully functional UAV that goes beyond the scope of hobbyist but eventually crosses over into commercial applications.

"Elios,
We are trying to make this as low cost as possible, just for this purpose...S&R.  I have looked into crowd sourcing but finding the programmer was the hard part.  So now I have a small team and we are moving forward with our small business…"

"Kevin, a rangefinder is very costly and heavy for smaller aircraft.  I'm trying to make this software-based that can interface with most cameras and gimbals.  All you will need, in theory, is a computer, camera, video stream, and gimbal."

"There has been some progress. I have a programmer working on a third party application to implement the solutions. To solve for elevation differences, Mission Planner has the terrain map feature that can plot elevation changes using Google Earth…"

Jay, I know what you mean.  For such a large community, there seems to not be a large support group for stuff like this.  I…"

"Bryan,
I'm very familiar with DTED.  I too work with MQ-1s and MQ-9s on a daily basis, although DTED doesn't affect me much with my job.  I think this would be much easier to implement on the ground due to processing power and memory limitations of…"
