About Me:

Founder, Neuron Innovations, building an open-source ground based DAA network for UAS. Our network connects your GCS directly over the internet to nearby sensors. Anyone can install a sensor, and connect it to the network, and may charge others for access to the data. The network is a little bit like bit-torrent, with no central owner of the network, ensuring the system remains open to everyone. Our aim is to keep DAA affordable to everyone, and ensure the network remains owned by the community, without someone charging crazy fees for airspace access.

James Dunthorne commented on Gary Mortimer's blog post LiDAR for $7999!
"We are the preferred supplier of data from the LidarPod by Routescene. If you speak to them to try and get data, they will pass you onto us :)

The LidarPod is a great unit and can do dual return. With accuracies better than 60mm, it compares well…"

Hi all,This may seem like a really basic problem, and no doubt many of you will be telling me that i have set things up wrongly. I have been through the wiki about 8 times checking, double checking and octi-checking every parameter i can think of,…

James Dunthorne commented on Brendan Jacobs's blog post 11 Problems with Drone Registration
"Drone regulation needs to be partitioned into:

1) Hobbyists
2) Commercial Operators

All hobbyist drones should have geo-fencing, registrations and other safety features to restrict flying
Commercial operators should have more flexibility (i.e.…"

"I agree, there are plenty of possible applications with drones...however actually selling the service/ platform etc for many of these applications is the hard part. You have to prove a business case to the farmer/ agronomist and this is something we…"

"In the UK i believe that Black Grass mapping is one of the few applications in agriculture that drones are useful for. I agree, there is a tonne of hype, which i why people need to diversify into other markets. NDVI is useful for the flood market to…"

"Great work...i think i'm falling in love with 3DR. Been working with your gear since APM2.6 for over 4 years now starting at University whilst studying my PhD in collision avoidance for UAVs. Seeing the company grow from being an opensource diy…"

James Dunthorne commented on Hugues's blog post AirbotPower board
"I see you can stack the boards in parallel. Does this mean that you could essentially do 300A using 2 boards in parallel? i.e. 150A per board"

"Great product...unfortunately you have released this about 5 days too late for me! Spent most of last week sourcing and soldering Zener Diodes, capacitors etc. With my setup, i can now handle up to 360A by using a 180A attopilot on each battery…"

James Dunthorne commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Let Skynet Become Self-Aware!
"Great article Chris...an insightful read. I have been saying for a while that all drones need their own version of a "registration plate". An electronic version using technology like NFC or wifi though, rather than a physical plate.

At least this…"

"Do you have any models with more than 4 rotors? To operate commercially, we will not use quadrotors since they have no motor redundancy and therefore will not conform to our strict safety policy. I'm a manager at Remote Aerial Surveys and have been…"
