About Me:

I have enjoyed RC modeling in some form or fashion for about 20 years now. I'm also very much into modifying, working on and racing Mazda RX-7's.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I am interested in using my Arducopter to capture aerial video of the various 24-Hours of LeMons races that myself and my team participate in.

John D. replied to Willems Helmut's discussion copter goes always to same direction
"Sebastian is right, that's the wind pushing your copter. There really doesn't have to be much wind to move these things around. It always surprises me when I go flying."

John D. commented on Jack Crossfire's blog post Dean burn #2
"Using XT-60 here. Haven't had an issue disconnecting them yet. My lipo's are from HK and they came with XT-60's on them so that's convenient. And of course the price is very nice compared to the real Deans!

John D. replied to Matteo Carnevali's discussion Hey sudden flip in stable mode!!!
"Are you still using the stock bullet connectors between the motors and ESC's? I had the same flipping crashes due to those crappy bullets. I've since removed them and soldered the wires directly together and have not had any problems since.

John D. commented on Aaron Curtis's blog post Four ArduCopter flights in a row before crashing!
"It's all good now, I got my quad back in the air last night. The front motor mount is CA'd back together and the top dome is practically made from the stuff now. A few flips and crashing it into the bushes but so far all the pieces are still…"

John D. commented on Aaron Curtis's blog post Four ArduCopter flights in a row before crashing!
"No worries about the flying Aaron, you'll get the hang of it. This is my first rotor craft of any kind as well and man it's been a handful. For most of my flights I've been taking it over fields with tall grass...that cushion really helps with the…"

John D. replied to bergsprekken's discussion cant arm motors after successfull cli config
"Try the "Reset Factory settings" (r in the CLI) and then recalibrate your max and min throttle settings. I had the same problem with the motors not wanting to arm and the factory reset fixed it.
