I got my first taste of FPV over the weekend and now my brain is running wild. Firstly I need to upgrade my monitor antennas from the basic dipoles it came with. That's simple. But looking up antenna options has my brain running and I came up with…

John L commented on Dan Held's blog post Hover - #1 iOS App for Drone Enthusiasts - V1.1 Update!
"What if the Flight Readiness button was dynamic, Ready to fly, Fly With Caution, Don't Fly, with colors, it might catch the eye of novices a bit more."

"Love the update! K index addition is great, and stop watch is so much easier to use.
Let me throw this idea out there, change the background color depending on conditions, green = fly, yellow = fly with caution (maybe elevated wind speeds, elevated…"

John L replied to Kate's discussion GoPro with IRIS in IRIS
"Pretty much the same issue. radio is on 2.6 ghz same as WiFi. It's pretty much an interference thing and while yes you might not have issues, there is a chance that it could cause an issue during flight."

John L replied to John L's discussion Tarot Gimbal Windows 8.1 Issues in IRIS
"Tried latest FTDI drivers, no change. I found a thread on RCgroup and they suggested an older driver from Prolific, that also didn't work. Tried both USB 3 and USB 2 ports. I can see the device in device manager and it gets assigned a com port but…"

After closely watching some video I shot with my gimbal I noticed some slight vibrations. I wanted to check the setting for the gimbal but I'm having a heck of a time getting it to connect to my PC. I have a feeling it's due to me running Windows…

John L replied to Roman's discussion Tarrot gimbal vibration issue in IRIS
"You need to update both the motor and gimbal firmware as well, scroll to the bottom http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/common-tarot-gimbal/ It's 2 differnet processes in the software, and requires you to move the cable."

John L replied to John L's discussion Charger Opinions in IRIS
"Thanks, yeah I've been doing a lot of reading on batteries today. But that is the best explanation. So technically the IRIS+ battery could be charged at 10.2 Amps. Needless to say I have an X100 on order, and it max setting I would be abel to get…"

John L replied to John L's discussion Charger Opinions in IRIS
"WOW, that's horrible. I guess I need to do all my charging tonight for tomorrow. The X100 looks really good and simple to use which is what I also need. I've been trying to figure out all the math with the battery, so charging at 8 amps is fine and…"

John L replied to John L's discussion Charger Opinions in IRIS
"Wow that's awesome. Out of curiosity what charge times were you getting on the stock charger?? I was trying to charge today for the first time and after and hour and a half I had to pull the plug and head to work. Seems really long, don't know if…"

Just got my IRIS+ today. Ordered a few extra batteries. Was thinking of picking up an additional charger, possibly one with a few more features. What would people suggest?? No need for multi battery charging, but I see some have a discharge and…

This is a pretty neat GPS tracker I stumbled across on Kickstarter. I know there is always a lot of talk about GPS trackers on UAS to help recover after a fly-away. This seems like a decent device, coming in at 27g, and also using GSM cell-phone…
