Jurgen Stelbrink commented on Thomas Stone's blog post NVIDIA's TX1 SoC now comes on a credit-card sized module
"Today we have build the first prototype of the 38216 debug board for the TX1. It is plugged between the TX1 module and the carrier board. It makes certain interfaces accessible for debug purposes."

"Today we have build up the first batch of J130 carrier boards with two HDMI to CSI-2 bridges with the TC358840 devices. One is connected with 8 CSI-2 lanes for 2160p30 (4k x 2k) input."

"Hi Randy, the design of the 6 camera interface board for the TX1 dev kit board has been completed. It is currently in PCB making. It has 6 CSI-2 camera connectors (15 pin with 2 lanes and 1 mm pitch). The pinout is the one from the Raspberry Pi. So…"

"We are preparing a setup to connect up to 6 video sources to the Jetson TX1 dev kit. We create a new camera interface board for the Jetson TX1 dev kit. It features 6 CSI-2 connectors with 15 pins. These have the pinout of the Raspberry Pi camera…"

"The J120 now features an HDMI input. Ridgerun has finalized the port of the TC358743 driver for the B102 (4 lane CSI-2) and the J120. It supports the following resolutions today: 1080p60, 1080p50, 720p60, 720p50 and 640x480p60. We have made the…"

"Hi Randy and Patrick,
thank you Randy for the work to interface the J120 to the Pixhawk.
We are starting to work on the CSI-2 interface for our J100 and J120 carrier boards. We are porting the driver to support the B101 and B102 HDMI to CSI-2…"

"Randy,
please check the file /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf. I believe it specifies which console to use. But please be careful, I have not tried this."

"Randy,
sorry, I do not know that. I would have to check into that myself. However, there is also a stuffing option on the J120 boards. Pin 4 and 5 of the UART header have UART0_RTS and UART0_CTS, which hardly anybody uses. With a stuffing option…"

"Hi Tony,
we are producing more J120 rev 2 systems this week to fulfill the outstanding orders. So your J120 will ship latest at the beginning of next week.
Best regards, Jurgen"

Jurgen Stelbrink commented on Thomas Stone's blog post NVIDIA's TX1 SoC now comes on a credit-card sized module
"Hi Randy,
1. the J120 carrier board has a level translator to 3.3V. So just connect a standard USB to TTL (3.3V) adapter.
2. a 2 to 4 cell Lipo is fine. The input range is 7V to 17V. However there might be an issue connecting the Lipo Battery…"

"I will document how to enable the SPI bus on the TX1 in the technical reference manuals of the J100 and the J120. Here is a screenshot of graphical application (QT) to visualize the operation of the IMU."

"We now have successfully tested the 9 axis IMU (MPU-9250) which is connected to the SPI bus 0 of the Jetson TX1. I must say, that this was quite a challenge as the SPI bus was not really documented well. It works on both the J100 rev 2 and the J120…"

Jurgen Stelbrink left a comment for Phillip Jones
"Hi Phillip,
please let me know, what you have in mind: a carrier board for the TX1 as a funded project".
With all the bit and pieces in place now, I can now easily do custom carrier boards.

Best regards,

Jurgen"

Changes for rev 2:
- larger M.2 mount holes plus M.2 fix
- aligned RJ45, USB3, and mini HDMI connectors
- drain Vdd_RTC to immediately rearm auto start logic"

We now got the high performance M.2 key M (2280) SSD to work on the J120. First we had to recompile the TX1 Linux, which was a little challenge. We had to compile in the NVME driver. First we tried this on the…"

I have looked at the VESC motor controller. I like it very much. Do you have some specific experience with this controller in drones?
This weekend I have sat down and entered this design in Altium. I have made changes so it is all SMD.…"
