About Me:

Computer sciences student, specializing in artificial intelligence and pattern recognition. In 2012 I created Quebec City's first FIRST Robotics team at Jean-de-Brebeuf high school.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I've been interested in robotics since elementary school. UAVs were always one of the most interesting fields of robotics to me because of the science-fiction I constantly read in high school, and a fascination for RC aircraft. in 2011 I decided I needed to build my own UAV. My current platform is an FPV quadcopter running arducopter. Check out my photos to see it!

"As for soldering practice, buy a bunch of electrical wires (the ones with many small wires inside, not the one-piece solid ones... I forget what the english word is) and make the kids solder them together, to get a feel of how the solder sinks into…"

"Those are very interesting points Paul! Let's hope this theory of perspective can help them better grasp the world around them.
Have you ever flown FPV yourself? The experience is very interesting. The first time you realize you have control from a…"

Kevin Bouchard commented on Max Bruner's blog post Sub-$300 quadrotor kit released on Kickstarter
"Well, you can probably understand the misunderstanding if you look at the image (and content) of your first blog post and compare it to this one's. Oh but you deleted it that first blog post, so it's not really a problem anymore, is it?
Interesting…"

Kevin Bouchard replied to Monroe Lee King Jr's discussion Drawings of the machine in DIYDrones - CNC Project
"Ok, so I continued working on the concept a bit, but I started realizing I was designing a lot of custom parts. So, in an attempt to lighten the load on the machinist's side, I decided to try making most the frame out of T-slots. At this point I…"

Kevin Bouchard replied to R. D. Starwalt's discussion Stepper Motor Controls in DIYDrones - CNC Project
"I'd recommend looking into the reprap project's electronics.
The generation 7 hardware looks pretty good, works via USB (this will preclude the use of Linux CNC as control software), and is optimised for DIY. At the very least it looks like an…"
