Lorenz Meier commented on Maxx_UAV's blog post New ArduPilot plugin for Gazebo
"Fantastic work! I'm maintaining the official Dronecode Gazebo plugin. We're currently working hard to bring more coordination and rigor to our simulation ecosystem and it would be great to discuss how we can re-integrate your work into upstream…"

Lorenz Meier commented on PX4's blog post PX4 - Call for VTOL test pilots
"Yes, the motors are fixed. Its a very lightweight and durable that way."

Lorenz Meier commented on PX4's blog post PX4 - Call for VTOL test pilots
"It can almost certainly carry a small p&s. And the good thing with wings is: You can get them in all sizes and shapes, and a slightly larger one can definitely carry one easily."

Lorenz Meier commented on PX4's blog post PX4 - Call for VTOL test pilots
"Hi Brandon,
Many people have shown the control approach, some I'm sure there are tons of videos out there. The current controller is nothing special compared to what is used in academia, but more advanced than what is used often in the community in…"

Lorenz Meier commented on Joseph Aletky's blog post Out of the Black: SLT VTOL UAV
"Hi Joe,
We're flying a quad+wing tail sitter at ETH - if you're interested in flight code doing both fixed wing and multicopter control, you could check this branch out:

Lorenz Meier commented on Lorenz Meier's blog post ARM announces new Cortex M7 core, uses PX4 and 3DR vehicles as use case
"Arducopter runs on top of the PX4 middleware, which would be the place that needs adoption. However, ST's press release for the F7 suggests it should be a minor update: http://www.st.com/web/en/catalog/mmc/FM141/SC1169/SS1858?icmp=ss185..."

Lorenz Meier commented on Lorenz Meier's blog post ARM announces new Cortex M7 core, uses PX4 and 3DR vehicles as use case
"Bill,
I'm fully aware of the full/small system layout and there are many, many more examples than Symbian OS. There are also POSIX compliant RTOS which could guarantee timing and still offer a Linux-style API. But they both have their limitations.…"

Lorenz Meier posted a blog post
Cross-post from my original G+ plus post, based on a The Register article: ARM just announced a new embedded core, the Cortex M7 with up to 400 MHz clock speed. The CPU is in general faster and has an improved pipeline, the real game changer four…

Lorenz Meier commented on Roberto Navoni's blog post VR Brain 5 (PRO) vs VR Micro Brain vs Pixhawk
"@Roberto: I think comparison matrices are great for users, but also quite delicate if not done by a 3rd party, so please allow a few comments: Its quite interesting how you compare weight (with and without enclosure, or like some would say, apples…"

Lorenz Meier commented on PX4's blog post Adding optical flow to the mix
"@Vega: Some interesting claims you're making there. What would be your comment about the light sensitivity of these (anonymous) products compared to an automotive machine vision sensor like the MT9V034 used in this flow sensor?"

Lorenz Meier replied to Felix Meissner's discussion Problem connecting Pixhawk and Futaba receiver
"Have you connected the S.BUS out to the RC IN port of Pixhawk? This is (despite the suboptimal labelling) where it belongs. The port next to it is S.BUS out."

Lorenz Meier replied to Felix Meissner's discussion Problem connecting Pixhawk and Futaba receiver
"@Kobus: The servo is not supposed to move (this would be quite dangerous during calibration, imagine you have an electric motor connected). Its also unpowered - the power supply is for the avionics exclusively, you need to provide servo power from a…"

Lorenz Meier replied to Felix Meissner's discussion Problem connecting Pixhawk and Futaba receiver
"In this video here:
http://youtu.be/0Aawev2i6RY

You have not actually connected the receiver correctly with its S.Bus output port. You need to plug into a different slot on the receiver. That's the one port which is rotated 90 degrees from the…"

Lorenz Meier commented on Andrew Tridgell's blog post An open letter to Paul from witespy
"@Mike: Pixhawk is an open hardware design by the PX4 project, and if you follow the links from 3DR you will end up on the official repository. Your claims about not compliant with OSHW are not valid and all information, including the license, is…"

Lorenz Meier replied to Felix Meissner's discussion Problem connecting Pixhawk and Futaba receiver
"Xian,
Please - S.BUS2 is supported by Pixhawk. Here is the line that does decode S.BUS1 or S.BUS2.
