Michael commented on FPV Quads's blog post Release of G-Frame from FPVQUADS.COM
"The gimbal consists of about 50 small parts and no assembly instructions.  Can someone provide clues on gimbal assembly?  FPVQuads.com is not replying to my email.

Thanks."

Michael commented on Randy's blog post GPS Glitch detection in AC3.1
"Great work.  Ideally a "glitch detection" would be performed on all sensor readings before they are used and the process would be integrated into a set of policies on when to use or discard backup sensor data if available.  Expensive flying…"

Michael commented on Sue Rosenstock's blog post Pixhawk is Ready for Takeoff
"Love it! As a professional computer engineer and software developer I understand the need to move to more capable hardware. Making new ideas work with a CPU and memory that is already maxed out requires increasing levels of complexity. That…"

Michael commented on FPV Quads's blog post Release of G-Frame from FPVQUADS.COM
"Silly question: Do you have assembly instructions?  It's mostly easy to figure out, but I have the g-frame components in front of me and have some questions about where you placed things.

Thank you!"

Michael replied to def2att's discussion APM 2.5 No dataflash Compass init error
"Is there a full hardware test that can be run on APM 2.5 from the CLI? I'd like to run a test on my new APM instead of finding issues the hard way."

Michael commented on Robert Krogh (hooks)'s blog post New 5.8 Ghz wireless video system 1200mW Long Range
"Can anyone who has purchased this provide a review or suggest other 5.8 Ghz systems for 1+ mile range?  Did anyone ever figure out the lines of resolution for this system?

Thank you."

Michael commented on robert mcintosh's blog post That was fun!
"Ok.  That was impressive.  Please share with us your odds of hitting a rotor on that ferris wheel.  Especially in an area where you would not have been able to recover the multirotor.  And please provide hardware details.  My FPV skills suddenly…"

Michael replied to Quinn McLaughlin's discussion New USR Hexacopter on 2.9.1 - spinning out of control...
"After seeing the video I am suspicious that you have a single motor or ESC that is behaving badly.  The lack of lift on one side combined with the spinning motion is an indication that a single rotor is turning too slowly.  Try this:  For each motor…"

"This is goofy, but are you sure you installed the hexa firmware?"

Michael replied to Quinn McLaughlin's discussion New USR Hexacopter on 2.9.1 - spinning out of control...
"You might have one or more motors with the wrong prop (pusher or puller) and motors that are spinning in the wrong direction. When this is the case it is almost always not possible to fly at all, but if it is just a matter of the wrong direction of…"

As an engineer and software developer I feel confident we could write software that auto tunes the PIDs in the air or possibly on a fixed jig that holds it in place. Has anyone done any work on this?

Michael replied to Randy's discussion ArduCopter 2.9 / 2.9.1 released
"Is -5 to -15 still considered acceptable for Z Accel vibration when running 2.9.x?  After balancing props and motors I am within that range but just barely.  I have not yet done anything to isolate the APM from frame vibration."

Michael replied to Randy's discussion ArduCopter 2.9 / 2.9.1 released
"Silly question, but how do I turn raw data logging on/off so that I can see Accel Z values?

Thank you."

This sounds a little too good to be true.  Is anyone familiar with pressure sensors that provide this much resolution?  Obviously this would be fantastic on an arducopter.http://www.meas-spec.com/product/t_product.aspx?id=8503Mike

Michael replied to Michael's discussion LiPo battery mystery in ArduCopter User Group
"After letting the battery sit for about 2 hours I put it back on the charger.  It put an additional 168 mah onto it and brought the voltage to 12.6.  I have seen this with 2200 mah Tenergy batteries too.  The only way to get a 12.6 volt charge is to…"

One brand new Tenergy 3s 5,000 mah battery is fully charged with a balance charger and flown in an arducopter quad for 16 minutes.  My battery alarm goes off at 10.8 volts (3.6 volts per cell on a 3s lipo) and I promptly land.  Before re-charging I…
