Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I was bought up with RC cars and worked on embedded systems in my early IT career. I have always been a proponent of the make revolution and the democratisation of technology. Having children reintroduced me into the world of UAV and I haven't looked back. My interest is primarily around autonomous control augmenting ground based humanitarian activities. However I have quickly learned that once you go beyond gps 'point and shoot' control, it gets a whole lot more interesting. And that's where my interest lies, just outside of the standard flying envelope, so to speak.

"Yes, the J120 carrier board is excellent and benefits from 2 USB3 ports, unlike the TX2 development board.  Good luck!"

"That's a lovely thought, but I guess the kit I'm using is fairly readily available - what I'm trying to do is to help others 'glue' it together in a useful way!"

My previous blog of the Jetson TX2/Pixhawk 2 build includes the use of an RFDesign RFD 868x telemetry unit.  Here's the detail of how I set it up.  As usual, the post can be found at www.mikeisted.com.

"Very nice Lyn.  I'm working towards a heavy lift octacopter, but could still be persuaded to go 4+4...
I have whole bunch of questions, but maybe this is going even more off-piste.  You on LinkedIn?"

"Also working on dual power supply - problem with just connecting in parallel is that if one goes short, it takes out the other.  Connecting via a high power Schottky(?) diode should do the trick, I think.  Need to do a little reading up, but that's…"

"Hi Lyn,
That's a very good point and thanks for your kind words. I may well build on that angle in the future.
In the first instance, part of this is to investigate exactly what the RFD brings to the table, my main interest being  reliability in the…"

Hi All,Can anyone tell me if the uAvionix transceivers work with the PX4 flight stack please?  They are a little expensive to purchase just to try out!  Also, has anyone used them with Mavros? Many thanks,Mike
