Nigel Brown replied to Richard Boyhan's discussion 3DR Specs?? in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Hey Richard, I have heaps of new unused parts for Y6. PM me and let me know what parts you need and we can arrange."

Nigel Brown replied to Jason Schreiber's discussion Y6 - Upside Down Operation in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"In Mission Planner, the orientation of the copter between waypoints is independent of the direction of travel.  For example, When our pilots use Mission Planner they are always required orient the aircraft to 000 degrees (facing north) regardless of…"

Nigel Brown replied to Jason Schreiber's discussion Y6 - Upside Down Operation in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"A multi-rotor doesnt really have a forward or backwards.
Just reverse your forward/backward stick on your RC transmitter. Unless I am missing something?

Nigel Brown replied to DG's discussion GPS malfunctioning or ??? in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Looks like you have between 8 and 9 sats so that could be causing some issue - you will get a 3d fix with fewer satellites but of course the more (I like to have 13+) the better.
Also ensure GPS and compass wires are braided where possible and check…"

Nigel Brown replied to Nelson Salez's discussion Motor Failures in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"If you have a RTF then the PDB with Deans that they are sending you will be a problem for you as you will need to de-solder all 6 PDB power connections for the ESCs and then solder Male Deans connectors to all the existing ESCs. This is not a small…"

Nigel Brown replied to Nelson Salez's discussion Motor Failures in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Here is the Maytech Simonk ESC manual.
Dave just a word of encouragement: The learning curve is steep for multirotors and autonomous vehicles, but worth it. It is very important that you fully diagnose any issue that you have as they are more often…"

Nigel Brown replied to Nelson Salez's discussion Motor Failures in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"David
The ESC has a red/brown/yellow servo connector (see second pic below - but it doesn't show the servo connector - just the red/brown/yellow wire) that is normally connected to the pins on the PDB (see first pic below). The pins on the PDB are…"

Nigel Brown replied to Nelson Salez's discussion Motor Failures in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Hi Tearig and David

I had that very same issue and spent a week testing and re-testing every part and combination I could come up with.  In the end it was a PDB (or more accurately the servo routing through the PDB). I videoed the problem and my…"

Nigel Brown replied to Justin Stiltner's discussion Is gimbal stabilization required for multirotor agricultural work in Agricultural UAVs
"By "prevent movement during flight" do you mean vibration or swaying?  You will see the small black phillips head on the side of the mount - We secure the GoPro mount to the vibration-dampening plate with velcro and bands.
Swaying: - the overlap and…"

Nigel Brown replied to Justin Stiltner's discussion Is gimbal stabilization required for multirotor agricultural work in Agricultural UAVs
"Hi there Rick
Our simplest solution for two cameras; A modified Go-pro mount. Drill out the centre of the three forks, screw through a thread that matches your camera mount, place rubber grommets on each side, screw on cameras. (See picture)
Add…"

Nigel Brown replied to Justin Stiltner's discussion Is gimbal stabilization required for multirotor agricultural work in Agricultural UAVs
"Hi Justin
We are a commercial operator and do Ag work in Australia by hanging two cameras (one NIR one visible light) from the bottom of the 3DR Hex and Y6. We now have 5 Y6s and they perform well every day (thank you 3DR and DIYDrones).
I agree…"

Nigel Brown replied to Nelson Salez's discussion Motor Failures in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Hi Tearig
The solution in my case was a mis-wired / faulty power distribution board. If you have the same symptoms as me, and it is a brand new copter (not flown before) I suggest you get in touch with the manufacturer"

"Hi Scott and David
I thought that I would chime in here on this issue as it is one that I have researched. It is important that correct information is posted as people may search this thread and follow any advice that is left here.

Nigel Brown replied to Nigel Brown's discussion Y6 with the shakes in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Yes, thanks for your reply Brandon I have done calibration and test - all good.
I am going to run some detailed motor logs as Ed has suggested. I will take another look at compass mot while the motors are spinning.
Stay tuned for the results!"

Nigel Brown replied to Nigel Brown's discussion Y6 with the shakes in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Hi Ed,
Thanks for your thoughts - I have had motor logging on and have checked it - nothing jumped out at me. I am going to have another look.
So if motor and PIDs look okay you think the airframe might be un-balanced? Would an un-balanced airframe…"
