Robert - NuvAero Flight Systems commented on Chris Anderson's blog post FAA announces investigation into drone use over Denver 420 rally
"Yes, I'm going to stir it up a bit. I am appalled by many peoples reaction to all of the FAA news. These comments are immature and extremely uneducated .Who else is going to regulate transportation besides the government?

If the government says…"

Robert - NuvAero Flight Systems commented on AKRCGUY's blog post More Amazing Rocket Footage Shot From Multirotor
"Just amazing! There is plenty of old footage of rockets going backwards towards earth. Used to not be a good thing.
Now. I have nothing but the most respect for Elon and SpaceX. But isn't that a bit of a hokey launch site? a gravel pit?  I think…"

"We've been experimenting with a Flir Tau 640 mounted on a roll stabilized mount inside our X8 wing lately. I will upload a clip to youtube to share with you guys sometime this week. It's pretty cool footage, but I get a little too excited while it's…"

Robert - NuvAero Flight Systems replied to Arnaud Vandecasteele's discussion Using the Lumia 1020 for aerial photographies
"I had a client ask me about this "camera" just last week. I told him there are good megapixels, and there are bad megapixels.  Check out DXO mobile scores. IPhone 5s at 8MP scores about the same as the Nokia Lumia at 41MP. (dont forget the big…"

Robert - NuvAero Flight Systems commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Drone startups on Angellist
"An epiphany, " an experience of sudden and striking realization". Of course this is just how people feel when it happens. Epiphanies actually come after significant work on behalf of the discoverer.
My question is - what was the epiphanic trigger…"

Robert - NuvAero Flight Systems replied to Robert - NuvAero Flight Systems's discussion Telemetry and onboard data logs no longer working.
"Problem solved! The telemetry logs contained the right data, but mission planner 1.2.60 was incorrectly converting the files to KML. Used MP 1.2.53 and the process works great.

Is there a problem with MP 1.2.60?"

I'm finding it impossible to geotag photos anymore. Using Mission Planner 1.2.60 and firmware 1.74b on arduplane. Have tried Geosetter and the Mission Planner method.Noticing 2 problems:1. In the tlogs the "elevation" is being recorded as AGL.  I…

I have been using Geosetter to geotag the photos that we take from our X8 wing for several months. The process has worked very well for us and we are able to successfully process the data using PIX4D desktop. The camera is a Canon EOS M and we are…

Robert - NuvAero Flight Systems replied to Graham Dyer's discussion X8 motor choices in X8
"Right now we're using:
OS OMA-3825-750 on all of our X8's. 750 kv
APC 12x8 fixed electric prop (never breaks on landing, folding props drew 40% more current in a cruise)
Thunderpower 25C 5400 4cell (x2)
Our wings are heavy. about 9lbs or 4kg, they…"

Robert - NuvAero Flight Systems commented on Scott Fuller's blog post Going for distance on the 3dR Telemetry modules.
"On my X-8's we usually can go over 3km and mission planner still reports back 90% telemetry strength. That's about where my JR9503 on DSM2 tends to get a little spotty.

X8 wing has 3DR 900mhz radios with stock antenna on aircraft and ground. Ground…"

Robert - NuvAero Flight Systems replied to Kevin Jones's discussion FBW-A lethargic
"I've had this same issue on all of my X8 wings running apm2.5. Aircraft with nearly default PID's navigates beautifully in auto mode. I wanted to work on the fine tuning so I followed the wiki on tuning PID's. Spent a bunch of time trying to get FBW…"
