About Me:

I work for a DIY 3D printer company, LulzBot. I have a MFA in sculpture. Much of my art work includes electronics and video with interactive and kinetic elements. This art work lead to my interest in 3D printers.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I'm interested in DIY drones for use in making aerial video. I plan to try to make a quad copter with a 3D printable frame with aluminum arms

"I didn't think about heat factors with the ESCs. On the arms it is then. Thanks for the info!"

I'm trying to throw together a quick frame for a Quadcopter. I've noticed some designs have each ESC mounted on the arm near the motor. Otherwise, a larger majority of designs I've seen have the ESCs mounted on the central unit.Is either a better…

I've been trying to decide on which aluminum tubing to go with for my quadcopter motor arms. Looking here and elsewhere there appears to be a mixture of square and round tubing being used by builders and companies. The question is, which would be a…

Steven Abadie replied to Justin's discussion Motor and prop choice
"This is a similar question I've had myself as I'm also just starting out. However, I received no answer here. There is a lot of info and documentation on the electronics, but little to none on which motors and rotors to use. Soooo, I just ordered…"

Steven Abadie replied to Ellison Chan's discussion 3D Printed Mini MultiCopter
"I'm new here so my knowledge of weight vs power of motors is very small. How is the weight of the printed parts compare to the carbon fiber?
Also, if you need any more printed parts I know I can do a cheaper price than Shapeways. How much did they…"

I'm trying to find out what the licensing is on the APM 2.0. I've been searching for it listed either in the announcement or the store item but have found nothing yet. Anyone know if and where the licensing is listed?
