About Me:

I'm a Graphic Designer cum 3D Animator. I was very fond of RC since childhood but never had a chance at it. It was only last year that I bought a toy coaxial heli from supermarket and then started looking at RC Hobby sites for tips. This transformed me from toys to serious RC stuff. I've assembled a Trex 450 clone as my first build ever, then came the planes & multi-rotors. The latest is an RC Car, Somehow enjoyed assembling more than flying or driving :)

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

After seeing people crashing and being a novice having minor incidents myself, I was bit worried about damaging or losing my flying models. As I've spent a considerable fortune on these I wanted to safeguard & minimize item losses as much possible. Being related to creative media I was also highly interested in FPV. This made me look for flight stabilization & precision control. First Going through Youtube I came across ZeroUAV, then came DJI but these cost way too high. Luckily I came across KK2, MultiWii & APM. Got all these. Since getting APM 2.5 never turned back.

Usman replied to Usman's discussion Flying in high temperatures!
"Thanks Gary,
The only black colored items are Pixhawk & its GPS. All electronics except gps are inside clear plastic canopy (has few slots for ventilation). GPS is on top of canopy. Should I keep canopy on or remove it till weather gets better?"

Hi,We are having temperatures here as high as 45°C and lows around 28°C. This makes me wonder about what's the high temperature threshold of APM & Pixhawk or any other FCs like naza or multiWii?Will it be safe for FC, ESC and motor to fly in such…

Usman replied to Damo's discussion Takeoff elevator in ArduPlane User Group
"Don't do 100% on throttle or elevator. Just learned this...yesterday, the hard way. First ever plane flight (Bixler2) ended into a tree & then straight drop from about 30 feet. It stalled and wind blew it away...within seconds. Full throttle will…"

"I had ordered SK450 with motors last June but it never arrived. My first ever build was HK450 heli in 2012, but that dented my confidence when one of its prop detached while test spooling. At that time the multis were getting popular so I ordered…"

"Hi,
Nice to hear from a fellow countryman. Actually I'm yet to mount it on a multi-rotor :) Very less time for hobby and even lesser places for test flying. You know how nosy & inquisitive people here are. Since last couple of years I have only…"

Hi,While I was connecting Pixhawk with GPS +mag (mentioned for APM 2.6) that came with it. Initially I used the 6 to 5 pin cable that came with GPS module. Then upon connecting Pixhawk with MP, there was no GPS. I watched closely and found that pin…

Usman commented on Robert Krogh (hooks)'s blog post APM 2.5 from hobbyking
"Naming it as "ArduPilot" was bad move by HK (now its changed to HKPilot) but on the other side it was HK that helped me get into RC hobby by offering low prices & multiple shipment options.
Today I'm a proud owner of genuine 3DR APM 2.5 and…"
