Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I have always been intrigued with a few from a higher perspective. We rarely get to see it in this day and age. In the future it will probably be apart of people's every day lives but for now I am hitching a ride the IRIS bird.

William Chenoweth replied to William Chenoweth's discussion IRIS jst connector to power FPV and Gimbal in IRIS
"It was definitely due to my carelessness. I ripped off the gimbal jst connector and twisted on new one to see if that was the issue. I didn't even tape them when I powered up. It was my fault."

William Chenoweth replied to William Chenoweth's discussion IRIS jst connector to power FPV and Gimbal in IRIS
"LOL. I fried my power distribution board.  :(

I am so pissed.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xohy5t5GPuA&feature=youtu.be

I was having issues with the gimbal turning on, so I re-spliced the wire to it. negative and positive crossed for a split…"

William Chenoweth replied to William Chenoweth's discussion IRIS jst connector to power FPV and Gimbal in IRIS
"That thing looks perfect, I wonder if the filter really helps for clear video.  Let me know how it works out, looks like you will need to plug in 2 connectors every flight though."

William Chenoweth replied to William Chenoweth's discussion IRIS jst connector to power FPV and Gimbal in IRIS
"I have mine velcroed/ziptied to a rear arm to keep it away from the gps. I also ziptied/industrial velcroed the telemetry unit to the other black rear arm. Both are just a half inch from the propellers and pointing up. They seem to work just fine. …"

"NO WAY!!!I am waiting on 3 of these to come in. https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct...

Hoping I get a similar result with the tarot and gopro on board.

Do you ever have issues with failing motors from heat?  They…"

William Chenoweth replied to William Chenoweth's discussion IRIS jst connector to power FPV and Gimbal in IRIS
"Yeah, weight savings is the primary goal, the fpv doesnt need as that much juice, its only running for about 10 minutes at a time. I am guessing the weight savings out weigh the benefit of a separate power source. But it is just speculation until I…"

William Chenoweth replied to William Chenoweth's discussion IRIS jst connector to power FPV and Gimbal in IRIS
"So the gauge of the wire is the only thing that would have an issue? I don't want to fry anything on a chance.  Do you know it can handle powering a 200mw transmitter and the tarot t2d gimbal simultaneously?"

William Chenoweth posted a discussion in IRIS
I was wondering if I could splice power off the jst connector on the IRIS's belly to power the 3DR FPV.https://store.3drobotics.com/products/3dr-fpv-osd-kit (power both of them from the one factory connector)Or should I splice into the main power…

William Chenoweth replied to Paul McBreen's discussion Tarot 2D Gimbal ignores controller after upgrade
"I screwed up the wiring once after upgrading and thought the same thing.  The wires going to the pixhawk look weird in the instructions.    Try using the components in the photo as a reference.  My Gimbal points straight down without the wires…"

William Chenoweth replied to Seba's discussion 3DR Iris GoPro3 Black live feed FPV powering everthing up when keeping minimum weight.
"So did you ever find out if it is ok to run the tarot 2 axis gimbal and the fpv transmitter from the same belly jst connector?  I am afraid I will toast something.

I have this from another project I am thinking about…"
