My new Hobby King frame...

3689410492?profile=originalThis is my Arducopter, now customized with a Hobby King´s frame that i have painted in Orange and black...

 

The HK´s frame parts fits nicely, and the arducopter parts got in to the frame really easy, plenty of room for the ESCs in the arms, the motors fit in their places and the power distro board gets in to its place in a cool way :-)

 

3689410564?profile=originalThe APM is mounted in some plastic spacer that came with the frame, in the pic you can see also my receiver installed with double sided tape, i still have to decide the GPS location......

 

The only thing i want to do better is the landing gear, seems to be a little weak....

UAV fuselage redesign....

After making my first UAV (few months ago)  LINK , i was recently having problems with space...............

Receiver, Ardupilot, Arduimu, Gps, Remzibis OSD, Motor Battery, Video Battery, Receiver Battery, E.S.C., B.E.C., Camera, Servos for Pan and Tilt,  video tx, telemetry,Etc.

 

So i decided to redesign the fuselage of my drone so it has a big and easy to remove compartment cover and lots of space to put everything and more...

 

In the first pic you can see the big white cover...... inside i will install everything....

 

Next Pisture, new fuselage Shown with cover removed and two 4000 mA, 3S Lipos inside.....testing the space

I made this video showing the Ardupilot dreaming, the HK´s GCS taking telemetry data, and sending Tracker commands to an arduino, wich is driving two servos on a Trackers base.

New airframe for the New Year...

Hello people, this is my new airframe to play with my ardupilot equipment!!!!!

 

It is a modified gentle lady from Carl Goldberg................

1.6 mts wingspan (shortened)

1.35 Kg.

3 channels.

Equipment:

  • Ardupilot.
  • Arduimu.
  • Ublox Gps
  • Board Camera, Sony capture chip, 3.6mm lens.
  • 4.000 mA Lipo for the Motor (25 min autonomy)
  • Tower pro Motor 8x6 prop
  • 1800 mA Lipo for the ardupilot, receiver and servos....
  • Hextronic UBEC. 1.5 Amp.
  • 25 Amp Tower pro ESC.
  • JR servos.
  • Assan 6 channel 2.4 Ghz receiver.

This Airframe works awesome, it has lots of room for equipment and also flies really good.........

 

This weekend, on 2011 i will be testing the Ardupilot in the field....... will try to make a good video to show it here.....

I am almost sure about it, first venezuelan to use ardupilot (i hope so).


Ran my first tests in my workshop, turned everything on, including the xbee telemetry, and it worked like a charm!!!!! it is awsome....

The arduIMU works perfect, i am impresed of the sensitivity!!!!!! GPS locked in 1 minute!!!


Now i have to permanently install the electronics in the UAV and run a few more tests, one of them is to figure out how to make it work with my "V" tail, i have been reading the codes and it mixes only the channels 1 and 2, and my tail meeds to mix the channels 2 and 4!!!!!!

Still have more things to do, but i think that this weekend i will start to configure the ardupilot on the field...


I allready have the video tx working, still waiting for my Remzibi´s OSD!!!

Getting started

Hi there, I am Diego from Venezuela, i want to start in the UAV proyect after being rc modeller for 15 years and robotics entusiast for a year, http://aventgps.blogspot.com

I have ordered from this site, Spark fun and Adafruit all the items i was intructed by this page LINK





I am going to use a JR XP6102 6 channel radio 72 MHz in PCM modulation
Xbee telemetry in 900 MHz
Video Tx in 1.3 GHz.
Electric motor with LiPo batery

I plan to modify the airplane in this way:

Eliminate the hidedral (done)
Cut off the tail. (done)
Make the wings 20% longer (cancelled)
Build an inverted Vtail in a double boom from the wings (done but deciding)
Repair the fuselage (done)
Make more room for battery and electronics,,,, (lots of room)
Cover the airplane in Monokote ( done )

I started to make the calculations for the cutout allready....

Have a ton of work to do before my electronics arrive home (10 days estimated)...

I will wait for your opinions.....
