keith mann replied to Darius's discussion Coax dodeca-copter on Arducopter 2.x
"Marc beat me to an answer and i agree completely.
I am certainly not an expert in this field and therefore could not possibly give a reasoned argument why contra rotation is better but you are correct in understanding that it must be better. Of…"

keith mann replied to Darius's discussion Coax dodeca-copter on Arducopter 2.x
"Why counter rotate the pair on each arm ? My X8 does this but the flight controller knows what an X8 is.
I do not believe any flight controller can operate 12 independant motors.
But you dont have to, use the Y slpitter as you mentioned and run it ,…"

keith mann commented on Xrotors.net's blog post Introducing AIrVator.
"Apart from anything else the others have warned you about , nobody , surely, would risk their life in a 4 rotor craft. A failure of any part of the drive line on a single corner will see the craft fall out of the air.
Volocopter is the way to go."

keith mann replied to Peter Skotte's discussion Connecting and controlling high-end gimbals through PPM/SBUS/CANbus via pixhawk
"Hi Dave
No i have not.  A pixhawk 2.1 ( or 3 ?) is the most likely solution. And even then probably not. I considered a 16 channel radio for a few minutes at least ! No matter how many channels you have there are still only 2 joystick controls so…"

keith mann replied to Peter Skotte's discussion Connecting and controlling high-end gimbals through PPM/SBUS/CANbus via pixhawk
"Hi
No answers to the issue but i need to join in as i have exactly the same problem.
I have a pixhawk powered X8 controlled via a gruapner 8 channel TX'r. I now also have a Gremsy H3 gimbal that will need a PPM input and this appears to mean 2…"

"As an Airbus employee, take it from me they have a great many projects like this on the go. The company is so silo'd though that most of the departments are not aware, except through the web, of what others are doing.
Google them, there were more…"

I am familiar with ROI on my flying craft but have no experience at all or knowledge of the ground vehicle firmware. It appears from the APMRover page that this is not possible, but i believed it is/was.Would someone please enlighten me as it would…

keith mann replied to keith mann's discussion using R.O.I to film a high altitude object, limits of the variables.
"Put simply, an auto mission created within mission planner would contain a line defined as "DO_SET_ROI". This takes 3 parameters Lat, lon and altitude.
The command would be contained within a body of other lines that would launch and set the copter…"

keith mann replied to keith mann's discussion using R.O.I to film a high altitude object, limits of the variables.
"Hi Monroe
R.O.I means region of interest in this context.

Obviously this Mavlink parameter is normally used to point a camera at an object, a building typically, while flying a mission.Imagine circling the building while filming it.
My plan is to…"

Hi GuysI have a project, as indicated above, to track a high altitude object. It appears to be feasible to use a gimbal inverted and set the ROI altitude to a large value. I have not yet discovered what the variable range allows. Mission planner lets…

"Hi Randy
With reference to this paragraph...
"You must be using a 3DR Pixhawk and there was a manufacturing problem between June 2014 and Feb 2015 (I think those dates are correct) so it might be possible to do an RMA.  When you talk to 3DR you…"

All parties can then make their own judgement on the…"
