  • The plate on which the battery mounts is an Align CCPM swashplate, so the gimbal is basically a ball joint. If the two servo arms drop, the weight shifts back, and if the arms raise, the weight shifts forward. Side-to-side shift occur when the arms move in opposite directions. The translation is not entirely linear, but can be computed by curve fitting or some lookup tables. I thought about using a pan-tilt bracket, but was concerned that larger servos would be required because there's no leverage.
  • 3D Robotics
    I assume that it gimbals on two axes, but it's not clear how two parallel servos can achieve that. Is there some nifty direction translation assembly that the servo on the left is driving?
