After poking around for a few hours with the multimeter on a Logitec 3D thumb button PCB this is what I came up with.
Try and nut this out? The "D" appear to be some form of logic gate. Somehow this can be translated down to 5 pins with an extra GND and +V pin. Guess the best I can do is hook pins 1 to 5 onto an Arduino and record the states I get on each button press. There will be some matrix to decode this.
