"i got too close to the ceiling so i took off throttle so it wouldnt hit, however that ended up slamming the quad to the floor, then back to the ceiling and back to the floor"

LOL! I've seen that happen before...  ;)  Glad to hear that you're recovering and also impressed to see some heavy-lifters coming around. I am interested to read how your tuning goes and what values you end up with, as I'm in the midst of building another monster... Cheers!

Hi guys, sorry for the late response, ive been recovering from a quad related injury. Took off when it wasnt supposed to and cut up my fingers pretty bad. However I am now typing with all 10 fingers and they are feeling/lookking better.

Brandon -  I designed it myself and cut it using a laser cutter i had access to when i was in school. You could also cut them with a cnc. The quad is mostly made out of 1/8 inch delrin. Most of the materials came from mcmaster carr and all the electronics from hobby king and 3d robotics.

John - yes it flies!! props work very well (12x6) each motor with that prop can pick up 3.3lbs at 80%ish thorttle so its a heavy lift quad. Havent had too much time to experiment, but as soon as i get some more feeling in my fingers and can fly it again ill post some videos. PIDs took a while to get right, in fact its probably not perfectly tuned yet but its quite stable. Havent had a chance to try any modes other than stable.

And as far as powerful, the very first time i flew it, i flew in in a parking garage i was still getting use to the weight/throttle response , and i got too close to the ceiling so i took off throttle so it wouldnt hit, however that ended up slamming the quad to the floor, then back to the ceiling and back to the floor then it rolled a bit haha all i broke was a motor mount. so yes pretty strong. ( I actually have video of that crash somewhere, ill post it soon)

And, does it fly? I'm curious about how everything is working together for you. Prop size, PIDs for your stocky, powerful frame, etc.. It looks really nice.
  • I know you built this yourself, but how did you make it....did you buy the parts online, custom build them yourself with a cnc machine, or have a local shop make the parts?

from local hobby shops. pusher props are hard to come by so I had to go to various shops. however any online rc store should have them. even amazon.
  • sorry for questioning u again, from where did u get the props from.....

turnigy plush 40A . The motors have a max rating of 35A so anything above that should work.
