Thanks for the good info. I asked about something like that at a local RC store, but they didn't have anything and recommended packing tape, do you have a brand name or anything? However, I don't think it would have helped in this case, I came straight nose down from about 35 feet with cruise power.
If you get another one, I recommend using the lightweight mono-coat covering (stuff for foamies). I use it on my SF Max and it has saved me from replacing parts. I had used my radio to fly my stryker and forgot to change the radio back for the UAV. I tossed it up and as soon as I started to give some control input, straight into the ground... I did that two days in a row!. I got a little wrinkle on the nose but that's it. I've also had a couple of landings where the wing hit thick weeds or had a slight tumble and there is nothing that shows anything. I think it's a great way to give some good looks to the plane, make it super strong and the $10 roll of film saves lots more if you had to replace parts.
Brian, I will keep the wing for the moment, might have some plans for it. I think that one of my aileron servos backed out a bit, as I had greatly diminished roll control in one direction. I could have got it around and back on the ground if id acted fast, but it got worse while I set up to come back and spiraled very fact straight down. All electronics lived. Although you can't see it, both wings do have cracks outside where the carbon fiber tubes end.
