3689651017?profile=originalContinuing on with our "week-end 3Dprinted goodies", today's menu is :

-A rover anti-vibration FPV camera mount, that also serves to hold the video transmitter.

-A Sony NEX5 camera mount for the XUAV Talon plane

Let's start with a Sony NEX5 camera mount to be installed in a XUAV Talon.

The mount is made to hold the camera on 4 anti-vibration balls, at a given height so the tip of the camera lens, when on,  does not touch the aircraft fuselage.

The print contains three parts : bottom, pillars, top.

Here some pictures of the real thing once printed:

-It holds the camera with four rubber balls

-It has a vertical video transmitter holder:

  • Thanks for sharing your job.

Hi william, no they are not exactly the same. The NEX7 is a bit bigger than the NEX5. However you could maybe resize the 3Dprint if needed ?

  • Not sure. Is the body of the sony nex7 the same as the nex5?  Can someone let me know if it is.

Thanks for the Rover mount designs.  Great work.

    Yes indeed Nick.

  • Hah, Nick, another Perth boy!

(That is the centre of the universe for any bemused onlookers)

  • Mark, I have used photogrammetry for this purposes successfully before but in this case we have something better; a proper 3D scan.
Hugues, thank you for sharing you work. I believe the model was kindly shared by Ryan Fuselier in the blog post here: http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/xuav-talon-for-aerial-surveying...

Hi CHristiaan, thx. I know you are a Talon lover !

@Mark, Pascal, the 3D render comes from a previous diydrones blog post made by someone (can't remember who , to be honest) who had made a full submillimeter scan of the XUAV Talon.

  • Mark,

I guess it is Photogrammetry ! I am sure a couple of photos and good software will give you what you need.

  • Great work, may I ask how/where you did the 3D render ofthe Talon frame?
