3689572837?profile=originalWe are pleased to introduce our updated Quad, Y6, X8. Each of our new copters is built to support a Tarot brushless gimbal and GoPro HERO camera, providing an ideal platform for stable, jello-free imagery. These robust and flexible copters can take off and land anywhere.

Our new copters have been redesigned from the ground up to offer increased lifting power, enhanced flight time and greater responsiveness. Each of our aircrafts features Pixhawk, our most advanced autopilot system yet., as well as precise GPS navigation, built-in advanced processor and sensor technology from ST Microelectronics® and a NuttX real-time operating system. The result is incredible performance, flexibility, and reliability for autonomous flight.

  • BTW Adam, your build reviews of the Y6 made me really consider the 3DR units. I need the X8 for the payload. Will be doing autonomous missions, but a majority of time doing video and photo projects. If it weren't for the autonomous I would just get a Phantom.

  • Adam, comes shipped with the Spektrum DX7, Tarot brushless gimbal, telemetry, GoPro Hero 3+ and FPV. What else would I need? Or are you speaking of last years model?

  • These forums have me so paranoid about spending $2700 on a new 2014 X8 from 3DR. Makes me want to consider going over to Foxtech and getting a Tarot 810 and building it out with a DJI A2 controller.

I am ready to purchase the X8 but everytime I go to the order page I think about all these posts.

    Killing me.

  • I wish they would stop calling them RTF or "Ready to Fly".  They don't even come with radios.

  • I got a response within an hour of emailing them. Here are the payloads and flight times for the new 2014 lineup as well as other models.

Considering the X8 RTF can carry 1 additional pound of the Y6 makes me want to just go that route. I am ready to buy, just want to pick the right machine. Looks like it is X8 RTF.

  • Still waiting for the DIY 2014 kit....c'mon guys, really?

  • @ Bayareacrasher

...it's been over a week - still no sign of the 2014 DIY kit...I'm beginning to spot a trend with 3DR announcements like this.

  • 300km

@mP1: thanks for the idea. I had a look at doing it that way and found an even simpler and lighter method. I just attached (zip-tied) the roll servo directly to the front of the top plate of the frame.

  • Does anyone know the lift for the previous Y6? I know the previous 2013 X8 was stated to be 880g in addition to the battery.

  • I would of hoped they would of dumped those crummy looking landing legs, lengthen the arms for bigger props and lower kv motors.
