3689686073?profile=originalWe make new modem for diy use. Can be use as a transparent UART modem. Board have also USB to UART converter.

433MHz (414-454MHz) 100mW (20dBm) Super Long Distance LoRa Wireless data modem with USB and UART interface.

General:

LoRa LRS series is a low cost, high performance transparent transceiver with operating at 433MHz. It is LoRa/FSK/ GFSK/OOK modulation variety. It features small size, high output power, high sensitivity, long transmission distance and most of the parameters can be set via the command. Receive and send data to automatically switch. U s e generic UART interface. It is easy to realize the wireless data transmission with only providing the UART data. It is flexible for the users to set the UART baud rate, output power, data rate, frequency select, modulation mode select etc parameters. It is your ideal choice for designing wireless data transmission products which can be widely used on wireless data transmission field.

  • @Guy McCaldin, do you have any experience with the Microhard radios?

$79 for an encrypted 2W radio is a pretty fair price I think.

  • Is this a point-to-multipoint solution?

  • I looked at LoRa modems some time ago.  I think Semtech somewhat misrepresent their product.  Just like with any other data you have to compare apples to apples, and they make it as hard as possible.  Since max power output of Semtech modem is the same as of those chips made by the competition (i.e. Si1000 used in RFD900 and 3DR) then all the range gain you can get is by improving your receive sensitivity.  So let have a look at those number:

    For SX1272 (aka LoRa modem):

    3702208921?profile=originalNow let's have a look at Si1000:

3702208938?profile=originalAt the first glance LoRa modem can achieve -137dBm receive sensitivity compared to Si1000 -121dBm, which is pretty significant.  Now lets rearrange that data and compare the data rates that you can get with each modem for any given receive sensitivity:

Data rate(bps)    Receive sensitivity (dBm)    Data rate(bps)    Receive sensitivity (dBm)

                 SX1272                                                                           Si1000

    293                              -137                                      N/A

    586                              -134                                      N/A

    1172                            -131                                       N/A

    3750                            -116                                      N/A

    9380                            -122                                     2000                        -121

    18750                          -115                                       N/A

    37500                          -112                                     40000                      -108

    N/A                                                                          100000                    -104

    N/A                                                                          125000                    -101

Now from this data you can see that LoRa can increase range of your communications if you are trying to send a couple of dozen bytes per second.  However at higher data rates it doesn't offer any significant advantages. It's niche market would be unattended sensors that send small packets of data.  However for higher bandwidth telemetry application  LoRa is not very well suited.  Now the same chip can also work with other types of modulations which would be comparable with Si1000, but if you trying to market a product stating that it is a long range data modem, you should probably specify that at those long ranges you will have a bandwidth  lower than that of a fax machine.

  • What kind of Software is running on the modem? Is it possible to log the link quality in a similar way as on SiK?

  • Power can be adjusted from 0 to 20dBm

  • Request members to list the non-US countries where 433MHz ISM operation is permitted and the max tx power allowed.

  • 433 is super important for non-us market and up to now we've not had a long range off the shelf option.  This is great, CSG, thanks!

Ignore the moron troll Darius, read here if you want the full subtext of his reply to you:

  • MR60

Since 3DR stopped making and selling its telemetry radios, we need to have as serious product alternatives. LoraWan technology might our best bet as it allows for very long range remaining totally legal.

  • I always check new devices against ITU frequency allocation table for harmonization (across regions).

The band 433.05-434.79 MHz is used as ISM band only in certain ITU region 1 countries - Germany, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia and Switzerland, Outside ITU Region 1, only Singapore (Region 3) has adopted this band for ISM operation. The band is restricted to a few countries for ISM operation.

  • We make now also 915MHz version. 433MHz and 868MHz version designed for EU market
