I don't know if you are aware of that but on RCGroups is a very interesting thread started by a guy who is achieving pretty amazing flight times. And other than some other people who showed up also here, he is talking about HOW in every detail!

Finally a time record I can respect. It is no nice to see someone that is open with the engineering and trade off's. Anybody talking about their achievements in an open source community that isn't completely open (at least about why they can't be), is wasting my time. In my opinion anyway.
Hats off for such a great achievement AND contribution to the community!
thanks for the link on this one shoping for more stuff now ; )
IN FLIGHT I AM IN 20 MINUTES WITH LIPO BATTERY OF 5800, 10x4.5 BLADES X8, X8 950 ENGINES, TURNIGY PLUSH 10 AMP, WITH A TOTAL WEIGHT WITH CHAMBER OF 1750 GRAMS, LESS WEIGHT WHILE MORE AUTONOMY, ALSO ADDING SOME GREAT BLADES, LOW POWER CONTROLLERS. MORE TIME CAN MAKE ALL OF FLIGHT.
Yes Ferdinand is a pretty helpful and pioneer guy. He is the one who achieved a mid air take off of an octacopter from a decahexa copter. His work is also interesting as it is not the first time he is experimenting with long flight times. He is a very talking guy and yes he will answer any descent question you have. He is has a lot of knowledge when it comes down to props and thrusts combined with motor kv so if you plan on building an X8 or X6 configuration you can visit his threads and read the discussions.
its not 2011, thats just the default date of the camcorder :)
preeeety amazing :D
interesting that he made his own battery
2011?
