A new wing design

I've been working on a new wing. The price of tooling is a killer!3689517938?profile=original

It's tested and I'm very happy with the results, just think about what might be the most effective version and what to put our efforts into if at all. All designed in Rhino CAD and Solid Works so mods are no problem.

We have two build options a carbon fiber/glass version and foam version. 2 Factories have expressed interest.

    Hi Mario

    Nice design work,

some points to consider. The only actual flying picture shows you operating in slope lift.  I know its easier to test in this lift having flown advanced slope sorers for many years. but its not going to give you a good feel for how this will work on a normal flat site.

    Some points to consider.

17kg is a big heavy aircraft, you will need either undercarriage or a take off ramp / catapult to get it into the air. Consider where the catapult will push against, you will need to be clear of the prop circle if you want the motor to assist the catapult ( mandatory on a plane of this size). Let me know if you need a catapult.

2000watts is a lot of power even at 9S 36 volts =55amp, Thats a BIG battery and I dont see the space on the fuse for that size battery AND a payload and still hope to get the CG correct.

Great project and good luck with the developement.

  • Hi again Mario,

As your design is so cute, if I were you, I would fix a bit the camera protector to make it not like a neb, but some kind of a smooth shape similar to the cab. I think it's possible. Thus your design will become really really smooth and graceful.

What about the molds, I suppose the prices are in EURs. So if you could provide some sketches, I could ask our mold factory to prepare you an offer for EPO or EPP molds.

    Best regards

    Nick

  • "Awesome. The white version reminds me of one of the Oblivion drones but I'm assuming the white 3D model actually the foam one?"

Correct there’s quite a difference with the support spars as well, I’II post more details of the CAD if required.

  • Awesome. The white version reminds me of one of the Oblivion drones but I'm assuming the white 3D model actually the foam one?
  • "Very slick! What's the fibre glass prototype look like up close?"

It looks like crap because I covered a precision cut foam core with a glass cover to see how it would fly and to test how tough it was. If it goes ahead I do believe the finished product will look great. I believe the factory will get a much better finish.

  • It's around MOQ of 400 units @ $267 for the foam airframe only and 25 units @ $4,300 for the full carbon fibre (fibre glass version is a bit cheaper). We also have about 200 hours of finishing CAD to do depending on the version and process used. Also planned on supporting parts using a 3D printer we have in house. I'm an electronics engineer and worked in the bay area for Cadence and also looking at support an in house designed product as a full time job after designing lots of stuff for other companies. I love the design because it doesn't need a lot of space to land and is quite robust, planning a support site at http://3Duav.com.

  • Awe$some!

  • Awesome design.

that is lot of Ksss  ,  but model looks kool .  you need to sell atleast 1000 pcs or more to be competitive in market with prices you are going to say. Good luck and cheers.
