Another 0% Compassmot on the Disco!

Woohoo!

Ok, upgraded my TBS Disco to 4S today, along with CF 955 props from RCtimer (balanced). Since I also had it in pieces the other week to change from Moongel to Zeal, I thought I'd better re-run compassmot.

And got 0% again! I had expected a worsening of the score, given the increased voltage, but no - I ran it 4 times, and got 0% on all tests. Ran throttle all the way to 100%, pausing for 5 seconds at each 10% increment (only 955 on MP, so my throttle radio calibration needs re-run) and all was well!

*Note: Picture is from very first test when I stopped halfway through...I managed to delete the "full throttle" one (taken on 3rd run) instead of this one <facepalm>.

  • Yup - it's completely flight ready. On my other quad, I even have the gimbal powered up!
  • Impressive results once again, Euan.

Do you do the compassmot test with all your gear running?  For example, is your FPV tx powered and transmitting?  Cameras on?  Etc.

I'm currently waiting for one last package from TBS (all my FPV gear) and then I can do my own experiments.

  • Excellent Euan,

Generally 5 or 6 inches is all it takes to get outside your local DC generated field and your installation certainly supports that.

I have a GPS/Mag coming for my on my little F330 Flamewheel's PX4 which is way too close to all my DC wiring and has an unacceptable mag offset.

Looks like it should fix it completely.

If you reach negative compassmot run away it is a sign of a black hole creation ;)gniark

  • @ Gary: Try this one:

    @ Tommy:

    1. Fire up a terminal connection

    2. Type in "Setup" (without "'s)

    3. Type in "Compassmot" (without "'s)

    4. Follow instructions. Method that works for me is: straight to 40% throttle, then increase throttle in 10% increments, hold for 5 seconds each. After 100% run, slam throttle to 0%.

Using a higher voltage drops the magnetic interference potential as it lowers the currents that flow. Magnetic Fields are proportional to the current flowing.

  • @Euan: Can you please share the details/commands to do this test? :)

  • Excellent Euan, do you have the Magnetometer on a stalk, would certainly like a picture of your setup.

  • Good job, ill be getting back to mine soon, hopefully this evening. Its not easy to juggle a newborn and a hobby.
