ArduStation Mega v1.0b arrived

jDrones_ArduStation_Mega_v1.0b_0147_sml.JPG?width=500

Our ArduStation MEGA boards arrived today and I am truly excited to see how they work. Now starts small assembly job for them and then we can start doing testing for those.

Big thanks for Colin for his original ASM work, it's great to see what great minds can create.

New boards looks just awesome. Few connectors are missing but those are quickly soldered. These boards are from the first batch and we have them now small qty in stock. If there are any changes that needs to be made, we will do it and then first production batch will come.

Technical specs:

  • MCU: Atmel 2560 with Atmel 8u2 USB "adapter"
  • XBee footprint for telemetry with external pins
  • IO: Buzzer, Analog, I2C, GPS
  • SDCard holder for storage needs
  • 128 x 64 pixel Graphics LCD
  • 3 x TTL Serial output pins
  • 2 x Servo outputs with internal/external power feed
  • Encoder port for menus etc use
  • Connection for I2C Keyboard
  • 4 x LEDs for showing different statues

  • I'm not using antenna tracking at the moment so haven't tried with any servos, P

  • Thanks Paul, It's what I hope.

Have you got 1 or 2 servo for antenna tracking ?

  • Hi Jean-Marie, Here is a picture of mine which runs fine off a battery pack, hope it helps, Paul

  • Hi Jani and Colin,

My ASM board only work on usb connected power.

@Jani: could you please explain how must be jumper ?

1st row = just below 'jbec IN' => no jumper = only IF UBEC external ?

    2nd row = jumper on 5 or 6 v ? for me, the 2 first pin because it's 5v volt  ?

Could you please provide a schema or photo to be sure ?

    Thanks again

  • Thanks Colin for this wonderful Job and Jani for your board !

  • Hi Todd,

I've received ASM 1.5 few days ago and finally, it's seems to work

1/ with mission planner 1.2.92, I ve load the 'custom hex' (clic here: ArdustationMega_v0.6_ublox.hex // on the 'raw' button, right clic : "save as" ---> your hex will be ok now and try it with mission planner !

2/ with Arduino 1.0.5 , after replace with the correct link oh the ArdustationMega folder it's works !!!

See my wonderful picture next ( I've plug my '3DR radio 433 mhz' on it and test it with 'jDrones telemetry board' )

I've not GPS lock because I was inside but it's work !

@Jani: when I'received my ASM, the jumper for servo voltage was not correctly plug I think. I had 0,00 volt on servo output but after put the jumper on 5V(left and middle it's ok),it was good (5.24v)  It's was previoulsly on ubec IN (left and middle)

  • 3692916805?profile=originalColin or anyone who can help,

I have followed the steps in the wiki to compile the hex but I am getting errors relating to the GPS.  I have attached the errors I am getting.  Can some please help me with what is required to compile the code?

    Thanks

  • Colin,

I have tried to load the latest v0.6 hex firmware into my Ardustation Mega via Mission Planner but I get the following error "the hex file did not contain an end flag. aborting".  Why am I getting this error?  Thanks for the help.

  • @Jani, agreed.

If your guys are already working on that then I'll leave that issue to you. We should have an option in the settings page for enabling the forwarding of MAVLink, which I can add if you like. I think it should be something like

    asm.forward = 0 - no forwarding

    asm.forward = 1 - forwarding over usb

asm.forward = 2 - forward over serial 2 (or whichever one is free for a second BT/wifi modem)

asm.forward = 3 - forward over both usb and serial

Obviously the user would be presented with text on the settings page not those numbers.
