Big Site-Wide Changes are Coming!

3689506229?profile=original

We are in the process of making some significant changes to our site layout and content to improve the overall ease-of-use experience here at DIY Drones.

As part of that effort, we wanted to put out the first section of the site that is ready for community-wide peer review.  You can see the updates at:

http://copter.ardupilot.com

We need to add the footer, and a few other small things, but we want your input!

Please take a look through the site and the wiki, and submit your feedback to:

feedback@3drobotics.com

We'll do our best to keep up with the comments here, but using the address above will definitely get noticed.

Thank you!

  • Nice work guys.  Mobile views will be a plus - and a fully stocked store of course :).

I just bought a $1000 hexacopter from USR -  The process of getting going is a bit disorganized.  I have worked extensively in the world of open source software - the good packages generally make it pretty easy to get to "hello world" - or in this case a first flight.  I would suggest you provide one clear path in that direction on your site, for people that are new to this.  If you can hold their hand a little better you could win a lot of customers.

  • Max: Nice! Legit ;D

  • Jake: Amen

Drone: Wordpress for the forums? do you mean bbPress?

  • What is the new forum software going to be?  Hopefully 3DR has wised up and will choose one of the mature and popular ones so we can finally have a decent forum.

  • Nice. New site looks great. A lot like OpenPilot's.

Any chance of redesigning Mission Planner next: make it cross platform and add useful graph functions to the current log browser.

  • Robert L, You guys have already done the work.

Check out the pages at the bottom of this http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/documentation/, Max has moved tons of stuff! We can all just go through it together and get everything sanitary.

    wim, Thanks

mike, Try just hovering on the wiki tab, you shouldn't need to click in order for the menu choices to show.

You can also navigate via the links on the bottom right in the wiki pages.

    Mike Tango,

Thanks for the tablet feedback, that's an important format in all this!

  • 3692639606?profile=originalThis is 1440*900

    3692639749?profile=originalThis is 1024*600.

Please consider using a format that can be easily read with legacy screens.

  • I don't know why this HUGE picture of the hexa is necessary - even on my 1080p screen i have to scroll and scroll to  finally find some content...The font sizes are way too big, the header is way too big - looking at it on a netbook screen or a tablet hurts my eyes.

  • Cannot access dropdown from top menu bar. I click "WIKI" it loads wiki main page. Dropdown menu dissapears before I am able to click it. I've been trying.
