In the video we present the development process of new technologies within the VR Lab.

The first step is to evaluate different potential ideas at this stage and a lot of importance 'given to the design, Italy known for great design studios and even within our group we have creative people who represent the future of italian design, the best choice is to be able to develop a mechanical level the product, check through the simulation that the drone is able to withstand the stresses to which it will be subjected during the flight and then verify the integration of the mechanical components with electronic ones.

Once you've designed the drone virtually, we make the first prototypes with 3D printers and carry out flight tests and validation.

A long and complex process but in the end a great satisfaction to see a materialized our dream.

  • Hi Guys,

I'm one of the developer of the model you see on the video.

Modelling was done with different software like Rhinoceros for Concepts , Inventor Pro for engineering and FEA and Maxwell and Cinema 4D for rendering.

The FEA u see is obviusly not the final one, the model itself is not the final revision as the scope of the video is Emotional and not bare technical.

Final FEM was done with the complete assembly, vibration transmission analysis etc..

At this project phase we must keep the secret on some internal solution even demostrating that we have the ability to develop a molded full body drone frame using hi end software technology.

  • Seems inventor proferssional.

  • Hey what software did you guys model it in?

  • Yup, I agree.  Where's the FEA on the assembly?  You also might think of how the body will transition vibration to the electronics.  Harsh...  Cool video though.

  • OK guys, while it seems You have put lot's of time into this I think Your FEA lacks quite a bit. 1'st of all You've simplified the model too far. Where are the corner blend radiuses? What about variable meshing size? Where is the opposite part of the mold? And where are the contacts and assembly points modelled?

In the end once assembled the strength results will most likely be OK, but what about the advantages of the resonant frequency analysis?

Hi Pete, yes we are working on Arducopter32 firmware on BOD , so the product will be opensource and compatible with all accessories available in VR and 3DR world , telemetry , GPS , Droidplanner , Mission Planner ecc eccc ;)

BOD use a custom revision of VR Brain that support a lot of expansion and hacking . Will be also a big surprise for Linux hacker ;)

BOD will be compatible also with VR Copter X4 accesories , Brushless Gimbal for GOPRO , SONY CX Series Camera and a lot of cool option for vertical market.

Wow. Super design methodology. (along with the diligent software development, integration with Ardupilot code, and pioneering autopilot / IMU boards.)

I hope the product is a great success.
