Carl Zeiss "Cinemizer" OLED Goggles for FPV Use

3689416611?profile=original

fpvmanuals posted a review on the prototype of the upcoming Cinemizer OLED video goggles by Carl Zeiss.  These goggles support full 1080p input sources via HDMI, 3D source display, are super comfortable, and display true black levels and vivid colors.  They offer a dramatic step-up from current Drone/FPV video goggles in terms of quality and comfort.  Only negatives -- they won't be out for a while and won't come cheap.

  • Vuzix works well with AR Drone. And when their next higher resolution product comes out it will be much better. Wrap1200.
  • @Paul -- The screen resolution of the displays is actually less than 720p (but it does take input sources of up to 1080p).  The screens are small and pixels are packed so tightly that I can say that the quality is very good, even at less than 720p.  You can't see individual pixels -- something that drives me crazy with my current standard def goggles.

  • The only thing important for me is the price. Manufacturer jargon doesn't matter. 7" displays with 1024x768 are £70 here with all the adaptors so unless these are about £100 what is the point. The controller for OLED is the same as previous LCD screens so effort is needed to change control so prices should not be stupid and as OLED is cheaper to manufacture prices should by reason be less than LCD screens but thanks to hype and corporate dickery then OLED system currently available are WAY too expensive and as the red problem has not been solved yet by Toshiba (where the first white paper on OLED came from) I still hold little hope for these systems.

  • I think its 720P.

Support for a 1080 signal and native screen resolution seem to be two different things. The manufacturer withholding specs is suspect, but I found this this tradeshow video listing the screen res as 1280x720.

  • Hope it is not vaporware... It shown up on IFA2010, but nothing happened after the expo.
I definitely buy one when (or if) it will be available.
  • Black would be cool

  • Looks great but if I have to wear a T-shirt over my head if I'm outside then their no good.
  • Now, we need an HD wireless link for 1080p FPV !

The currently available Zeiss Cinemizer + is expensive, but can be used for SD FPV.

From there, you can find cheaper goggles, like vuzix, but don't know the quality.
