DJI Phantom Vision

Phantom_Vision.jpg

They are certainly trying.

The PHANTOM Vision is the only quadcopter on the market to offer professional-level multi-rotor flight control technology, an intelligent GPS-based autopilot system, an integrated HD camera and an iOS app for full camera control. The PHANTOM Vision also comes with a remote control unit containing pre-programmed autopilot parameters allowing pilots to switch between different flight modes to achieve particular flight experiences. Also incorporated are safety parameters, such as a failsafe feature that will bring the PHANTOM Vision back to its take-off point and land itself if it loses signal from the remote control unit for any reason.

  • Well DJI Phantom Vision is expected to be released late november and the price will be similar to the old DJI Phantom plus a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition :-)

  • Anyone know the price yet?
  • If you're going the redundancy route, you need to remember the motors & props aren't the only single point of failure. See also power packs, cables/solder rattling loose, PDB's, servo's, receivers, autopilot etc.

Not to mention that it take a very skills pilot to react to a motor/prop failure skillfully...most scenarios go by the following:

    " WTF was that???"

"Oh, I think a xxxx has died" (if you're FPV 3km away at this point, root cause is even harder to detect.)

    "right, back into stablise, and..."

By the time the jocket has twigged and devised a plan for emergency landing, terminal velocity and/or instability has already been achieved and something expensive is going to happy anyway.

  • pity it's a quad, zero redundancy

I think that this product is not so advanced and the design is poor and old .... i think that is possible to do better :)

I think that they don't develop a good frame for solve the vibration problem .

About the multimedia feature of camera i think that the limit of wifi range is not so good for a lot of operation and the latency is not good for fly but is only possible to use for video preview.

  • That is a really nice looking camera mount.

14mp sounds suspiciously like they might have cut a deal with GoPro.

Although they'd make more money if they did it themselves, so who knows.

Also, although it looks like it has good vibration isolation and possibly pitch control, it looks like it may lack roll control which means auto stabilize wont work on it and it wont be able to compensate for Airframe roll.

If true, that would seriously limit it's video potential.
